Weight Issues
Anyone have this problem, ever since you've gotten engaged has your weight fluctuated? I've gained about 20 lbs. since last year and even though I'm at a more healthy weight now, I used to weigh 110 and looked too thin, now at 130, I don't feel comfortable anymore. My clothes don't fit anymore and I'm worried I might gain more.I know a lot of the weight gain was from having surgery this past year and I wasn't able to move around much for a couple of weeks after and haven't worked out since then, and my eating habits changed.
I want to lose 15 lbs. before my wedding. Anyone have any suggestions?

Re: Weight Issues
I also need to lose 20-30 pounds before the wedding. This is what I do: No soda, no sweets, lots of water and I exercise 30 minutes 5 days a week on the eliptical (sp) machine and do 200 crunches per day. I have lost 8 pounds so far

Re: Weight Issues
I'm going through the same thing, actually we weighed pretty much the same, before and after. I gained when I quit smoking, even though I know I made a healthier decision for myself by doing that, not having any clothes that fit me make me feel just as bad! lolLately, I've been doing a lot of walking. A lot. I walk everyday for at least 30 minutes, but I always try for an hour. Sometimes I walk with weights.
I've been cutting my portions in half, eating small meals, instead of three big ones. In the morning, I'll have a yogurt (or those smoothies) and a banana, or some dry cereal. Throughout the day, I'll interchange my little snacks with salad and grilled chicken. I eat a full meal at dinner. I drink lots of water, and squeeze some lime juice into it (the lime juice adds nice flavor, and helps curb some appetite cravings, at least for me). One the weekends, I have what I want, I just watch my portions.

Re: Weight Issues
I gained 30 lbs in college, and a a year and a half ago, I lost it all with the South Beach diet. Now, I want to lose about 20 more and I'm on the weight watchers points system. I'm also taking aerobics and muscle works classes at my university gym. To start off, I do suggest South Beach, because it's fast and easy. But it's hard to maintain for a long time. But you can definitely lose 15 lbs with it and then just move on to weight watchers to maintain your weight.

Re: Weight Issues
I lost 8 lbs too. I eat cereal for breakfast instead of bagels.. that really made a HUGE difference believe it or not. When I go out to places liek Applebees or Chilis, I order salads (They are great there and Im so NOT a salad eater!!!) You just have to cut out the sweets, & limit your portions

Re: Weight Issues
I had always promised FI that I would quit smoking once we were engaged. So we got engaged in Jan and I quit, and gained almost 30 lbs in 6 months. Now that I conquered the smoking thing i am battling the weight. I have lost about 6 lbs of that and have been going to the gym 6 days a week. I do cardio for 30-45 mins and then weights. I try not to eat dinner, I just have a protein shake. So far its working for me

Re: Weight Issues
YES!!! i am similiar - i have always been 125 lbs - always - i got engaged and literally gained 10lbs. in a matter of months.i think my problem started because my FH is 6'3 and about 225 lbs - and we began eating together almost every night after we got engaged - and i found myself eating exactly what he did. bite for bite....
on top of which we stopped running around as much because everyone in our friend group is pretty much planning a weddding - so we began doing a lot of 'hanging out' in peoples houses, etc. - no more hanging out until 4 am drinking and dancing, etc..
it happens.....

Re: Weight Issues
I barely eat sweets, and all I ever have for breakfast is cereal or occasionally egg whites, but thats not often.I think it might also be that I barely eat throughout the day and then fill up at night, or don't eat much during the week and then overdo it on weekends. eek.

Re: Weight Issues
I'm a huge fan of South Beach as well - I can lend you my book if you'd like - but you do have to give it back. It's not a lot of reading at all - pretty simple to follow!
Here's a post I had up:

Re: Weight Issues
Ever since I moved in with my FH (4 years ago) I gained almost 17lbs...mind you I was already appx 15lbs overweight...I REALLY REALLY need to drop 30lbs...I go to the gym (most of the time) and I really watch what I eat...my big problem is eating after work. When I come home from work 6-6:30pm, I am ready to swallow my refrigerator. I mean I have lunch at work but still...so yeah I have to cut out 2/3 of my dinner....Welcome New Vendors
