I don't think anyone got bit, did they?? I just think too many sharks were coming around in that area where they do the feeding so they are stopping for a while. Since it's only on moorea (they think) i'm going to see if Bora Bora is still offering it. The people who run the tour know when there are too many sharks or when to get you out of the water.

I am staying at Pearl in Moorea on a garden bungalow with Pool. Pearl is a nice resort but I think Intercontinental is nicer.
We are doing intercontinental for Tahiti & Bora Bora

That's what we're doing! But a beach bungalow at moorea pearl.
Our itinerary is: 1 night tahiti intercontinental (garden room) 4 nights moorea pearl (beach bungalow) 5 nights bora bora pearl (2 nights garden pool bungalow & 3 nights OWB)
We chose the moorea pearl because it is in a great location and close to many shops/restaurants... plus we saved a little by staying there and not the interconti.
We chose the bora bora pearl because of the GREAT reviews and location.

My friend stayed at the Moorea Intercontinental on her HM and hated it! She didn't hate the hotel itself...she said the service was really bad. I forget exactly what happened but she was very upset with their stay there. She was so annoyed with her TA for recommending it. She told me to do the Pearl instead so I am. Moorea Pearl..doing the garden bungalow with pool there.....saving up to do 5 nights at Bora Bora Thalasso in an OWB which I cannot even wait for. I am dreaming about those OWB's!!! Your idea/plan sounds great!

I'm terrified of the sharks too....but FH was probably definitely going to try it so I was going to be brave and just do it. We'll see now. They are apparently very small sharks...they look large enough in that picture I posted though don't they? Hey no one answered yet but do you know if those sharks are in the lagoons around all the OWB's? I heard the lagoon around the Thalasso on Bora Bora doesn't even have good snorkeling so I'm hoping that means no sharks there too!

Yeah that sounds great.. thats what we had originally but changed it because of flights and thats the only reason why our hotels switched in BB.
ETA: But we are still doing Moorea Pearl --- I heard geat reviews about Pearl for BB and Moorea

Yeah FH wants to try it tooo, its his great idea . I dont think they have sharks in the lagoon, if they do than I guess I will be skipping that part of going in the water.

make sure you pack a blow up raft to float around in the lagoon! I picked up 2 yesterday at Walgreens for only $2.99 each! If there are sharks...you can just float around and not even have to put your body in the water : )
And Thalasso girls....I am hearing from the few reviews out there so far (Jess...thanks for posting the link to the first tripadvisor review...I've been checking it every day for a review!)...that the water around the bungalows is very slimy from all the construction and building of the bungalows...so some people were recommending water shoes for at the Thalasso...just wanted to mention that.

Hey Jess do you plan to head to Bloody Mary's for dinner while on Bora Bora? If you do and if you happen to remember....would you mind asking for me (I tried emailing the restaurant and it won't go thru) if they really are closed for the entire month of December. I arrive in Bora Bora for 5 nights on Nov. 30th....so if they do shut down for all of Dec. I'm wondering/hoping I can go my first night there (I do assume if they say they are closed for all of Dec. that they would be open last day in Nov...???). I would so appreciate it...thanks!!!

Re: French Polynesia (Tahiti, Bora Bora, etc.) Honeymoons!!!!!!
Sorry if I am boring the girls who are NOT staying at the IC Thalasso...I know I keep posting about it but it's just that I am so excited to finally start seeing reviews online for it since it is so brand spanking new.... Someone posted this on the message board on tripadvisor...there's no an actual review in the review section...so I am just copying and pasting so you can read...sounds like they loved every minute there!
"Just came back from IC Thalasso-what a beautiful place!!! I am jealous to all who are going soon!!! I read on this site that some people were switching to other hotels because they heard that this hotel wasn't really done yet-well I am glad I didn't switch-my gut told me not to -one of the nicest bungalows on Bora Bora. First off, the service was impeccable-not one thing to complain about-esp. since I went during "soft opening". I couldn't believe how professional and welcome my husband and I felt. From management down the line, all employess were great!!! No one could be more pleasant!! Everyone greets you in passing. Our boat transfer from Air Tahiti was very smooth-An IC rep came to greet us with flower lei and took us to the hotel-boat ride was nice-about 15 minutes. She gave us cookies and bottled water-very nice way to start off...Took pics of us. When we made it to the dock at the hotel, 4 people were waiting to greet us- We had a pic of us taken by an employee that later on will give to you. Check in was so smooth-they sit you down to fill out paperwork witha cold drink and a chocolate dessert-was it good!!! -the bungalows are amazing-the pics online do not do them justice!!! We stayed in a diamond OTW bungalow-they are gorgeous -what awesome decorating!! The hotel itself was amazing-I have nothing bad to say about it-the spa is not done yet but they have bungalows if you want a day in the spa. tennis courts are not complete as well as wedding chapel. Al these were not important to me anyway.... The food was great as well, esp. at dinnertime. Definitely pricey...... FYI-if you have the MAP meal plan-the allowance on the dinner is 6970XPF. Roughly 70.00 pp allowance;anything over you must add on to your room charge. Drinks......if you plan on drinking a lot -bring a lot of money. I got 2 banana daquaris and it cost me 27.00 approximately. Water is approx 4.00/bottle. Lunch was great-very good menu choice/decent pricing---approx 30-40.00 total for lunch with no drinks. They spared nothing on the amenities..... Bathroom amenities-awesome-came with shaver kit-razor and shaving cream, vanity kit-nail file, makeup sponge and q tips, dental kit-toothbrush and toothpaste, shampoo, shower gel, soap, etc. There is also a hairdryer which is not attached to the wall. There are also 2 big blue spa towels for you to use when you suntan/swim by your bungalow. Attached to the wall is a shaver/makeup mirror which comes in handy. In the living room there is an expresso maker, hot water pitcher, 4 kinds of tea, wine with 2 glasses, mini bar etc. The glass coffee table top slides to the side so you can feed the fish if you want with a light for nighttime. In the walk in closet there is an umbrella, shoe horn, shoe shining mitt, iron/ironing board. They even have plastic rain jackets for you !! D id I mention at night the turndown service leaves you cookies?? Pool is very nice and not deep-I did not spend much time here as I stayed by my bungalow most of the time-comfortable lounge chairs and tables with umbrellas. They offer kayaks, snorkeling equipment, etc with many other excursions to plan for a charge-jet skis, parasailing, boat rides, ....there are too many to name. Overall-it was a dream trip for me. To all the guests I spoke to, all loved the hotel and esp. the service....it will be very hard to top this place!!!"
