Need Advice: Mom wants to wear red

My mom wants to wear either a red dress or a dark color (like hunter green or navy blue) to my daytime wedding in April. My bridesmaids are wearing lavender and the other mothers (my stepmother and FMIL) are wearing pastels. Is my mother going to look totally out of place? I am thinking she is going to stand out like a sore thumb. JMO, but to me red just seems so 'Scarlett O'Hara' for a MOB. Any thoughts? Am I putting way to much thought into it? Thanks

I don't think anyone will think she's out of place.

If you're worried about the pictures and the way the dresses are goin to blend together, then I would be a little concerned with the red as well.

However, if that's what she wants to wear - why not?

The focus will be on you no matter what, and in the end, she has to be comfortable wearing what she wants.

I'd have no problem with her wearing red. Just as long as the dress itself is tasteful for a MOB.

I do not think it will be a problem. I think my mom will be wearing red, MOG wil be wearing navy and my girls will be wearing merlot. I do not care that it will not blend exactly! They should wear what they feel most comfortable in!

Let her go for red if she likes it as long as it doesn't clash with other colors for your wedding. It's a warm color and could be a nice addition to cream colored or mocha colored dresses.

i don't necessarily have a problem with red, but i know my mom does not look good in red, so she wouldn't wear it. dies she look good in the dress/color? if she does, then i'd leave it be, don't stress yourself over what others are wearing

Thanks girls for all your thoughts. MY mom is fair skinned, so darker colors do complement her. I guess my issue is that she doesn't even want to try any other colors to see if they look good on her. I keep telling her that when she goes to bridal shops to focus on a style that she likes, not so much the color on the rack. Cause the shop can order it in 142 thousand different colors. You know? I feel like our roles are reversed, I am the one saying 'How do you know if you don't like it, if you haven't even tried it?'

My mom wouldnt wear a light color because of her weight. She didnt want to look like a poufy cloud so she opted for a dark cranberry color. Granted my wedding is in the winter but I don't think it matters. She should wear what makes her comfy. I would not be concerned about how she will blend with the BP dresses because the BP and the MOB are not in the same pictures (unless a sister or SIL is in your BP and family pictures)

I say be happy she doesn't want to wear this,
and go with it. It will be fine.

Don't sweat it.. she could want to wear all white.. then you might have a problem.. LOL

She is your mom.. she will look beautiful...
