Help me write my thank yous, please!

What do you write?? What if people give you money? do you say,'thank you for $$$'? or what?? I dont wnat it to sound tacky, but I want them to know I appreciate their gifts and acknowledge what they gave us. Also do you give a thank you to someone you never got a card from but was at the reception?

i think whether it is china, crystal, coffee pot, $$ it is all a gift... but if it is a material thing i would reference what it was instead of saying gift, so money i would call a gift, others i would refer to what ever it is (china, vase, toaster etc)

I would write a thank you to who ever came.. just make it a thank you for sharing in/being at what ever they attended..

When it's money I say things like 'it will be used for a downpayment on our future house' which isn't a lie.

I've been working on mine...

I've used the phrase 'thank you for your generous gift' when the individuals have given us money.

i agree, use 'gift' for money and specifically say whatever the physical gift is. If you dont they will think you dont know what they got you

There are several good books out there that have sample letters and advice for all sorts of gifts, including $.
