trying on bridal dresses...

Okay so how did most of you find your dress? Did you just go to bridal shops and try on whatever dress that came your way or did you scope out a dress you really liked and find out which salon had it?

Also, if the bridal salon you're going to doesn't have the particular dress you want... can they have a sample shipped to them so you can try it on?

Re: trying on bridal dresses...

I cut out all of these magazine ads and I ended up with a totally different gown than I expected I would. You know when you find the right one.

I don't know if a salon would have a sample shipped to them for you to try on - the best thing would be to look up the designer's website and just see where their gowns are sold.

Re: trying on bridal dresses...

Flip through magazines and pick out dresses you like so you can try those on, then keep an open mind if the saleswoman offers you other styles. If you're unsure of what you want (as I was), check out salons with several designers so you can try on a bigger variety of dresses.

As for the 2nd part of your question, I know at Macy's Manhasset, when a dress I wanted to try on wasn't in the store, they arranged for one to be shipped up from Virginia. I would imagine that other stores would do the same thing.

I would also suggest trying on gowns that you don't think you'll like. They look totally different on the hanger than on you. I surprised myself!

Re: trying on bridal dresses...

Look at as many magazines as you can and mark all of the ones you like. I got my dress @ Kleinfeld and a woman named Margaret helped me. When I booked the appointment they told me to bring as many pictures as I can of styles that I liked. When I showed them to Margaret, she looked at my style choices, shape, height and then brought me 3 dresses to try on...I picked the 2nd one! It really helps to have someone assist you that knows what they are doing!
