Directions from church to hall
Did you give or are you planning on giving directions for guests from the Church to the reception hall?Where do they go? In the invite?
I was going to make up some direction cards of my own and have someone hand them out at the end of the ceremony so that people would have the directions to the hall. Is this a good idea? I have MANY (MOST) out of town guests and people unfamiliar with Long Island.
What do you think?Save time time? or help others ?
HOWEVER, I just mapquested it and the directions seem confusing to me....
so if anyone in the smithtown area could help that would be great, I havent lived there in a long time and I am confused...

Re: Directions from church to hall
If you think people will have trouble getting there, then I say go for it and make up the cards. It shouldn't be too time-consumming since you just need to type it out once and copy it for everyone. I would send them w/ the invites, and then have some extras at the church in case people forgot them. And people can always follow other people from point A to B.

I got card stock from Kate's Paperie and printed them out - they were included in the invites. It only cost me about $12 for the paper.

Re: Directions from church to hall
Mapquest can be confusing even if you know an area! I'd get out a detailed map and work it out yourself (or get someone good with maps to help you). Maybe ask people at the church if they think your directions are alright (at the very least they might be able to tell you that a certain local road get congested...etc). You may also call the catering hall too, esp if it's in the same area. There are companies online that can print up the directions on little cards. Maybe your hall can help you there too...
I found this site, but I never used them so I don't know if they are any good!
Direction cards
I hope this helps!

Re: Directions from church to hall
Thank you!My mom gave me better and less confusing directions and I am going to make them and have them handed out after the church. I don't want to put them in everyone's invites cause they wont all need them and I would like to have them in ENGLISH and SPANISH for both my family and fh's family...sooo, it will be easier and cheaper to make them myself and give it to only the people who will need them, those at the church.
Is this a good idea???
(boy do i know how to second guess myself...UHHH )

Sounds like you have it handled! I'd just make sure that you have enough for everyone just in case. You may assume people know how to get there when they don't. Also, some people are HORRIBLE with directions! Good luck!

Re: Directions from church to hall
I did them, because the hall was not that close to the church, and the directions were a little tricky. I decided to do it after talking about it with my friend, after she said they usually can find the church with no problem from home, but going from the church to the hall is when they usually get lost. What I did was used mapquest to get a decent sized map of where they would go. then I typed directions in Word. I cut and pasted them on regular copy paper - double sided, so they were a little bigger than 1/4 sheet of paper. I then highlighted the route on the map with a yellow highlighter.
I put them in the invitations, but also had some extras with the programs at the church.
