I have heard people do it! It depends on the look you are going for. Lazaro and Jhelm make beautiful dresses that come in white or ivory! Juts think the amount of money you would save!!

One of my fav dresses was a watters and watters dress - well I saw that they offered the exact dress as a BM dress. Maybe not the same material, but the same style. Check it out - I think it is a great idea!

My sister did...I would have never known it was a Bm dress if she didnt tell me. I saw alot of bm dresses i liked but alot of manufacturesers dont make white/ivory Bm dresses

i think about it all the time.. i am desperate to find something i like w/sleeves.that is not too poofy....and if it means from a bm line i totally would!!!!!! you can always add beading and dress up with jewelry....

Yes!! Belsoie (sp?) makes a GORGEOUS dress that comes in white ( or diamond white) and a friend of mine actually tried it on thinking it was a wedding dress!!! It was so simple and elegant and beautiful!! and it even had a little train!!

I was SHOCKED when I saw the price.. and then the saleslady told us it was a bm dress

Many brides will get a BM dress in white and where it. you save a lot of $$$ that way. Just go for what you want. who cares its not a brides dress, it'll be your bridal dress and thats all that matters.

A few girls on theknot are buying bridesmaid dresses from Vera Wang in white or ivory. The bridesmaids dresses are a fraction of the cost (around $380) and they are gorgeous! Good luck.

I've heard of it too. Also check out Mori Lee 'voyage' collection - simple vbridal gowns for 'destination' weddings. The BM gowns are really nice too, but I don't know off hand if they come in white.

I was totally ready to buy a BM dress in white until I found a place that offers bridal gowns, brand new, for a $25 donation. Basically, a local bridal salon donates their discontinued bridal gowns to a store that asks for a $25 donation to buy the gown.

I was looking for a gown with sleeves, which I would not compromise on. (Finding that in ANY salon is difficult) I figured I'd go there, maybe find a sleeveless gown and add the sleeves myself. But then I found the gown I was looking for. How odd is that? It was the exact gown I tried on and fell in love with, at $850! If you are willing to try a place in Suffolk County, what does it hurt?

I know my gown was new because there were no hooks to bustle up the train. Hooks only are added once a bride is measured, especially by height. FM me if you are interested. They also have mother gowns and bridesmaid gowns. But finding 2 that match are hard.

It is hard for me to check my FM during the week, so give me a few days. Good luck budget brides! May I help you to find your gown as I did!
