Re: Ever hear of a bride wearing a BM dress?
I have heard of a bride wearing a white bridesmaid's dress because she wants something very simple and it's less costly. If you find one you really love, you should go for it!

Re: Ever hear of a bride wearing a BM dress?
It's funny, that's what I wanted to do at first, at now my dress is poufy and has beading! there are some really beautiful bridesmaids dresses that do come in white, even from makers like Vera Wang. However, I have been told taht some manufacturers got wind of the fact that brides wear them and only allow you to order in white for a few or more

Last year a friend of mine wore a simple white strapless bm dress. She looked stunning.

oh that is so stupid! i would think that the bridal salon would at least like to make a sale.
i mean if a bride is set on getting a particular dress, be it a BM dress, then she is going to go get it.

Yes, i've heard of this quite a bit. JCrew has a line of really nice, yet simple dresses.

A co-worker of mine did when she got married last year...she didn't want a big, expensive dress so she bought an ivory BM dress - it looked beautiful!

When I worked at David's Bridal it wasn't uncommon for brides who wanted something simple to look in the bridesmaid's dept.I believe, however, that they no longer offer many of their BM dresses in white.

Yes, absolutely. A bride on the knot.com bought a Vera Wang ivory long BM dress for half the price!

When I was shopping for my mom's gown, there was a bride trying on my BM gown for her wedding gown! There are many BM gowns that come in champagne, ivory and white.

Yes...the lovely dollface646. She's wearing a strapless Vera Wang BM dress and paid almost nothing for it...and gets to wear Vera on her wedding. That's one smart cookie!

Re: Ever hear of a bride wearing a BM dress?
when i went to one florist and showed him a pic of my BM dress (bill levkoff 966 shown in champagne) he thought it was my dress. it could definitely work as a wedding gown if you don't want a long train or any poofiness or beading.

Re: Ever hear of a bride wearing a BM dress?
I definitely have. If you want simple, you might want to check out Eden Bridals, the informal line. If you go to their website (can't remember what it is, but just google Eden bridal) you click on Informal, and that shows their simpler dresses.

Re: Ever hear of a bride wearing a BM dress?
Yes, Me! I had a very specific stayle that I wanted. Simple, Strapless, with defined, drop waste. I wanted something simple that I can jazz up with some really nice jewelry, veil, tiara etc. I tried on a bunch of gowns but all had too much beading, not right style waste, or too fancy for what I was going for. So I decided to look in the BM racks and tried on a few and found the exact style that I wanted and it looked great. The sample was in a pink color but I ordered it in white. The dress just came in last week but since it's in MA I have to wait until the next time I go to visit my mom to try it on. I'm just hoping that the dress looks as good in white as it did in pink. We'll see...My aunt/godmother was paying for the dress so price really wans't an issue but I (she) saved a TON of money.

That really makes me mad! WHen I first started looking for a dress, one of the bridal shops I went too told me they didn't allow brides to order bm dress in any form of white! And then she told me how tastless it was for a bride to wear a dress that was under $1000! She was like 'You don't want to look cheap do you?' I told her I rather look practical than wasteful, and walked out. That was the last time I steped foot in a bridal shop.
