FG Dresses(I dont know if I asked this before BUT...)

I have two flower girls, one will be a year and a half and the other will be almost 3 at the time of the wedding. They are both rathre petite for their ages. The 14 month old wears 12 month sizes and the other is now in 2T.

The wedding is four months away and I have no desire or need to have their mothers spend a poop-load on their dresses at a bridal salon for them to wear once and possibly soil (especially since the mothers AND their daughters AND their sons) are all in the BP and have to be clothed.) I have a heart and located an FG dress on one of those websites for inexpensive dresses - about $40 for the smaller one and $50 for the other - not bad.

Now lets assume I order the dresses now, how can I accommodate for the growth of such young children. For those brides who had to order FG dresses in advance, or for those of you with small children, how much can they grow in four months? Basically, I would like to know which size to order in anticipation of a growth spurt. Any suggestions?

I bought the dress 4 months before the wedding and bought 1 full size up. She fits into it perfectly now.

How old was your flower girl? One of mine just started walking and shes just a baby - so cute. She and the other one are walking with their big brothers (both about 5ish). Safety in numbers!

She is 7. Have you checked on ebay? They have some great FG dresses for babies for $29.99.

Get the dress a bit big and the worse case senero you will have to alter them a bit. That shouldn't cost much. Also maybe let mom pick our a more afforidable pair of shoes at payless and try to keep the boys in low cost tuxes to conpensate.

I have checked ebay and I havent really seen what I liked. The price of the dress isnt really an issue - as long as it is under $100 we are good. The issue is the return factor - they dont take returns (only online store credit) and I may get stuck with two FG dresses. I guess if I hate them THAT much I can sell them HERE.

I was going to order the dresses one size bigger than the girls are wearing right now, but I wanted to know if it would be enough. It also depends on the length from the shoulder to the floor on the girl. And infant to regular size is a BIG difference in length 7inches - not as easy as it seems to alter. A dressmaker could charge more than the dress cost to begin with and then there would be no point.

What if you bought them a month before off the rack? Or do you want to order from a place?

Re: FG Dresses(I dont know if I asked this before BUT...)

I dont want to order - too much money and really dont have enough time. I looked in department stores and boutiques. Now is not a good season because all of the dresses are out for fall and winter and are a little too holiday oriented. If I were having a spring wedding, I could buy communion dresses or even easter dresses and figure something out. BUT those dresses wont be out until me wedding is long gone. They just are not in the regular stores now. i dont want to wait til the last minute and get stuck.
