NWR: My BF is coming to visit me...

My BF is coming to visit me from NJ. I wanted to do somehting nice...like going out east to a winery for lunch. Can anyone recommend a place or something else to do?

I love going out to the vineyards. Check out vineyards It gives you a list of vineyards and a map. Definately hit Raphael. Lieb has very tasty wine, but not a fancy tasting room. Palmer has a great deck with Adirondack chairs (I had my reception there). Pelligrini is stuck up, but good wine. Martha Clara is a nice place and has goats to pet outside. Macari is a must stop. One suggestion is to pick to one of the two roads and just hit a bunch of vineyards in a row. There is a great cheese shop called The Village Cheese Shop on Love Lane in Mattatuck. You can get cheese and crackers to take out the vineyards there. I always stop there first then go out to Palmer and sit outside and munch cheese and crackers while sipping a good merlot.
