Is anyone getting a second outfit/dress

to make your 'grand exit' in. a few people in my family have asked me if I was doing this, but I am kind of on the fence. We are not really leaving for our honeymoon right away, but I don't know if I will want to be in my dress during the after party at the hotel....

and is this customary all around (since it was mostly coming from my Puerto Rican side, I thought perhaps it was a more hispanic custom.)

thanks ladies.

Re: Is anyone getting a second outfit/dress

I might change into white sweatsuit that says Just Married after if we decide to continue to have an afterparty, but otherwise I'd just stay in my dress until the end. We're booked at the inn next door so its more convenient.

Re: Is anyone getting a second outfit/dress

We're leaving for HM the following day, but I will be 'changing' per se b/c my dress comes in pieces and allows me to do so. I will be changing into a different skirt - a white short one instead of the A-Line one. I will be keeping the top and the sash on.

I am staying in my dress, even at the after party. How else am I gonna get free drinks at the bar?

i plan to wear my dress all night. We only get to wear it once in our lifetime so i think why not milk it.

Jess your dress is so pretty and sexy so keep it on. Show it off to the end.

Re: Is anyone getting a second outfit/dress

I'm not changing. But Jess, I think you're right about it primarily being a Hispanic custom. My cousins in PR all changed for their reception.

Re: Is anyone getting a second outfit/dress

I doubt it. After paying what I am for the dress and only getting to wear it for the one day I'll prob keep it on as long as I can.

It may be a custom thing, because it's the same for Asian cultures too. I'll be changing into a dress that looks like:

THAT dress is gorgeous. I went a few months ago to a chinese wedding and the bride had not one, not two, but THREE gorgeous dresses (traditional white, traditional red, and a cute peach ball gown) talk about inspiration.

thanks girls. that's why I am on the fence about changing. we put so much into this ONE dress, it seems horrible to give it up so quickly...though it would be so much easier for me to dance in (my dress has a VERY wide ball skirt)

edited- spelling

Re: Is anyone getting a second outfit/dress

I am. Since I am having an after party I will change into a more 'plain' dress since my dress is a ballgown. It is also a Polish tradition to change after midnight so that's what I will do.

This is the dress. It's a Monique Lhuillier

Re: Is anyone getting a second outfit/dress

My mom wore a second dress. Here she is with my dad! (This was awhile back.)

The dress was pink with sequins.

Re: Is anyone getting a second outfit/dress

Yes, the famous 'vestido de desposada'. I didn't do it because my mom didn't have time to make me another dress (being that she barely made the wedding one ) but I would have worn one otherwise. It's VERY much a Puerto Rican custom...not sure about other latin cultures, but my family was asking about my other dress a lot. In the end, with all the dress drama I went through, I'm happy I wore mine until the very end.

But I so badly wanted to wear this super short high neck Vera Wang lace dress...too bad there was no time - or enough weight loss from my part...
