Has anyone ever vacationed in Aruba? I have a quick question.

I booked my honeymoon at the Radisson in Aruba. Bonbini Aruba baby!!!! Woo hoo!! Happy Happy Joy Joy... anyway..

How expensive are the restaurants out there? So many people are telling me that it is rediculously expensive- not that it would veer me into changing my my mind about going there because that will never happern!! But seriously.. it is crazy expensive? Will I be spending like $200 on dinner every night?

Just a thought.
Thanks!

I was there w/ FI last June and its what you would pay anywhere! Prob anywhere from 60-100. Depends on what you order and stuff...but $200 a night?? I dont know about that one..we went to some really nice places, ate dinner on the beach and it wasn't that high.

Re: Has anyone ever vacationed in Aruba? I have a quick question.

What we did when you first get into the airport there is buy a few bottles of liquor ....that why you can party in your room b4 you go down -
dinner isnt going to cost 200 a night - and just remember they put the tip on every check so you just sign it ....i made that mistake one - the guy got his 20% + 30 bucks .....thank god i only made that mistake once -

I love that hotel! the sunset grill is one of the best places to eat around there
if you walk up to the marriott its one hotel away there are some good places there too!

have a blast

Re: Has anyone ever vacationed in Aruba? I have a quick question.

It will not be that much every night. you also have to figure that some nights you will be so tired that eating a huge meal will not happen. I found them to be reasonably priced.

You are going to have soooo muchfun there.

Re: Has anyone ever vacationed in Aruba? I have a quick question.

We just got back from our 2 week honeymoon in Aruba...it was my husbands 1st time there, my 12th! Can you tell I LOOOOVE Aruba?

Don't let anyone scare you, dinner costs the typical price you would pay in any average Manhatten restaurant. Pls don't do the dine-around or all-inclusive..there are a ton of great restaurants to pick from. After considering how much a wedding costs and how much we spend on day-to-day stupidity, are you really gonna skimp on your one and only honeymoon?
Sure, drinks can be expensive but are you really looking to get sloshed every night? Aruba is not a Cancun-y/South Beach kinda place..play or even just stroll around the casino's,drinks are FREE
Any questions,FM me.

Re: Has anyone ever vacationed in Aruba? I have a quick question.

I think people are warning you about price just because it might be a little more than your typical island restaurants. But...the food and restaurants are much better in my opinion. It is not outrageous...probably what you are already used to paying in NY.

Also...great choice w/ Radisson. I've stayed at the Radisson and Hyatt and I think Radisson is the best on the island. You'll love it.

Re: Has anyone ever vacationed in Aruba? I have a quick question.

I was just there with FH in August. We've both been living in NYC for awhile so there was no sticker shock, but they do charge big prices for being on an island. That being said, there's still a range - there were places we spent $60 and places we spent almost $200 at. And, some of the cheaper places were actually better :) If you want restaurant recommendations, FM me and let me know - I'd be happy to review where we went.

Re: Has anyone ever vacationed in Aruba? I have a quick question.

I went to Aruba several years ago. the really good restaurants are pricey. about as much as dinner in NYC would cost you. but SO worth it! IMO

there are plenty of restaurants in all categories though. You don't have to spend $200 on dinner, anywhere.... unless you order 2 bottles of wine and eat like a king.

Re: Has anyone ever vacationed in Aruba? I have a quick question.

There are so many restaurants to choose from of different price ranges. The cheapest we ate was pizza ($20) and the most expensive was Sunset Grille ($200 for 2 people...one of my favorite places ever). There are so many in between too. Like El Gaucho's about $30 each for steak, salad, and side. Basically like N.Y. prices. Have fun you're going to love it!
