Re: For those brides who got the marriage license in NYC
I have heard that it takes a long time at the Queens court house. I never met anyone who was there less than 2 hours. Because of that reason, I am going to LI.

Re: For those brides who got the marriage license in NYC
We went to Queens, and we stood on line for what seemed forever. (from start to finish it was about 2 hours). But mostly standing on line.ETA: We also didn't know that they only accept money orders. I had to stand online and fill out the application while FH went to find a money order.

Thanks Michelle for letting me know about the money orders! I had no idea! Is it better to go in the morning or afternoon?

No problem!!! It was such a hassle, because I didn't see it anywhere in the NYS marriage license requirements that you needed a money order! We live in NJ and we went during the jewish holidays (shhh...don't tell my rabbi!) we were there in the afternoon around 1:30 and didn't get out of there until about 3:30.

Re: For those brides who got the marriage license in NYC
It took us about an hour and a half. We got there at about 9:10am and there were about 50 ppl in front of us. If you can, I would go a little later - around 10:30ish.

Re: For those brides who got the marriage license in NYC
i went to the courthouse in queens and got my license. I got there about 8:00 am and was done by 9:15 ... I was the 2nd person online but beware people who go late in the day can eb told to come back the following morning. I only know this beacasue about 5 other couples skipped in front of me online since they were told to come back from the previous day. And yes they only accept money orders ...

No, you need to get your license in the state you are getting married. FH and I live in NJ but had to get our license in NY since that's where we're getting married.

We got ours in NYC - we were amazed how quickly it took. We were in there for about 45 mins tops. We went early in the morning - there was only about 4 or 5 couples ahead of us.
