its painless. u could get the license 60 days or less before your wedding date

I thought you are supposed to get your marriage license in a county where you reside???

No, you need to get your license in the state you are getting married. FH and I live in NJ but had to get our license in NY since that's where we're getting married.

I heard licenses were different prices in the city vs. LI. Anyone have info on this?

NYC is $35 and LI is $40.

i went right before closing (in forest hills) so i was only there for about 45 minutes. they are so rude and unhelpful. make sure u know exactly how much the money order needs to be b/c i was told the wrong amount and dh had to run out and get a $10 money order to add to the one i had at the last second. bring a black pen and your nys id's.

There is a paragraph on the NYC Clerk's office website that says, 'any couple who intends to be married in New York City must apply together in person at any of our four offices.' (with a link to the four city clerk's office locations in NYC).

Does this mean that you must get your license in NYC if you're getting married in NYC? I'm confused b/c some girls have said that they're getting their licenses on L.I. even though they're getting married in the city...

Does anyone know the answer?
