Gas Fireplace

I have a LR we NEVER use, lets put it this way - my couches in that room have never seen @SS Sooo, I figure a fireplace would want to make me park it in there time to time (we're always in the Family Room).
I don't have patience to light a fire...can anyone tell me their experiences? are they effient in heating the space, worth it..how much $$,where to get one.
I've only gotten 1 quote so far... ummm, mondo more than I was prepared to spend!

Re: Gas Fireplace

I don't know anything about buying one, but my brother has 2 in his house and LOVES them! He is constantly telling me I should take our fireplace (actually, there is a woodburning stove in it now) and put in a gas one instead. He has a pretty large house in NC and he says during the winter, that is often all they use and it is fine.

Re: Gas Fireplace

I have one that I am going to hook up to Propane. I just posted this as a propane recommendation on this board. Cylinder Express. I spoke with Tony-he's great. 631-667-2342.

I love fireplaces and with gas or propane you don't have the smell in the house of wood burning which means you don't get the dust or soot as much either.

Re: Gas Fireplace

We saw some at Lowes the other day (we have a fp already, so I didn't check on the prices). But they seemed nice - I think they had an option for gas or electric. (Not sure how that works).
