Bounced Checks.....

Anyone else get a gift that BOUNCED all the way back from the bank???

How did you handle it? I got one and i was thinking of just avoiding it. (it isnt someone I see often)

Yup we had one too. We ignored it and didn't say anything to the person becaue we knew he would know of it. 3 months later he apologized for it but we got nothing down the road from him (not even the 15 dollar fee it cost us).

We got one too, the girl told us before we got the notice from the bank and she replaced it with cash - LOL.

We had two. We redeposited it and it was ok. Sometimes people miscalculate their account. Most of time it's harmless.

We received on check that bounced b/c her debit card was stolen and her account was wiped out the day after our wedding. She called us immediately, told us it would likely bounce and had us re-deposit the check after everythign was taken care of. It's not always the gift-givers fault so I wouldn't jump to conclusions immediately.

Yes indeed we had a bounced check and not so surprising from who either. These particular family members have borrowed a decent sum of $ from the hubby and have never repaid or even mentioned it since borowing nearly 3 years ago - interestingly they are always going to ball games and buying new vehicles . . . It's pretty sad when family take advantage . . .


It cost us $25 at our bank for the bad check and supposedly we can still try to cash for an add'l 60 days. I actually tried and so did the hubby but there aren't enough funds in the account. What's really sad is this is the daughter's account. Can u imagine going to a wedding and having your child write the check? These wonderful relatives have already ruined their eldest daughters credit ...

I think we've done all we can do . . .boy the next family meeting will be interesting. Better luck to all of you!

We didn't get any from the wedding. But when we got engaged DH's godfather/uncle gave as a check and it bounced!! We didn't want to tell them but my in laws were really pissed so they said something. The sent us a new check with an extra $50 bucks, so we were thankful in the end.

Yup we had one! Luckily we didn't have to say anything because the person sent a replacement check as soon as it hit her account - with an extra $50 to cover the fees. The person WILL know it bounced, hopefully they will do the right thing for you.

Not a single check bounced, but this happened to one of my friends. The people were friends of her parents, and they never sent a replacement check or called to apologize. I don't understand that--I would be so embarassed if that happened, and would write a bigger check just to cover the costs and to recognize the couple's trouble. She chose not to say anything in the end.

A friend of mine gave us a bounced check. She told us it bounced and she would replace it with cash....including the $10 bouncing fee. (It's been 3 months and we're still waiting!)
