Negotiating with Vendor

Any advice on how to tell if my FH and I are getting the best deal on our reception site? Did anyone negotiate the prices they were quoted?

Re: Negotiating with Vendor

i think it depends on the place, some are more flexible than others. Mine really as not very flexible. I find that they are not flexible with price but some will throw in more stuff if you negotiate that... like venetian or min-venetian, etc. I think you need to post the name of the venue b/c then people who have booked can give you advise

Re: Negotiating with Vendor

We negotiated our price with our hall. We took out our 'complimentary vienesse table' got them to take $5 off/person.

Re: Negotiating with Vendor

We are not at the Watermill but we negociated and got lots of 'extras' as well as a slightly lower price for guaranteeing 125 people. Bargain with EVERYONE for EVERYTHING. The worst thing that happens is they say no. We have gotten extras with every vendor so far except the band. They were pretty solid.

Re: Negotiating with Vendor

my sister booked the Watermill for her March '07 wedding, and they seemed very willing to throw in a bunch of extras for her. I think time of year might have had a little to do with that, but I agree with the above poster...it never hurts to ask!

Re: Negotiating with Vendor

My hall wouldn't negotiate the price, but boy did we negotiate a lot of extras!! Just keep asking... the worst they'll do is say no- but usually they offer something else in return... can't hurt! and it's your money, they want your business... ask what they can do to sweeten the deal!
