hey teachers!!! need some ideas!!

I am doing 2nd grade thematic unit in grad school on communities....could use some ideas on how to integrate science. Could I do something with the climate of the area???? Plants????

Help!!!! (any ideas for other subjects are welcomed!)

You could do various climates/weather in different areas.

We actually do a mascot that gets sent to various communities & they learn about the weather & how the area is different (rural, city, etc.)

You can also do various plantlife or also wildlife (you won't have armadillos in New York, but you will in Texas b/c of climate), etc.

Also perhaps weather conditions (tornadoes vs. hurricanes)

thanks for the great ideas!!!! I had some other ideas, but they weren't grade appropriate. Since I am doing 2nd grade, i can't do as much as i wanted.

I was thinking about discussing the seasons in their communities..and talking about the nature in their communities..
