Bridal Party luncheon menu ideas
OK ladies, I am making a luncheon on December 10th for my bridal party. They are all able to be in one place at one time, which in and of itself is great and rare.Anyway, I would like to do it in an old-fashioned tea-party style, rather than getting a platter of sandwiches that could feasibly end up wasted.
(Though FH WILL be sitting watching football all day on Sunday so SOMEONE will eat them if I did it - but I digress)
So far, the only thing I have come up with is: cucumber sandwiches. I would like to have some things that are girly and frilly and dainty(so NOT me thats why it is amusing) and I was hoping that some of you had suggestions. At the same time I think that this is actually the day of my shower which means I may end up throwing it all out. I sent them all a formal invitation last week and nobody responded. Hmmm. Regardless, I have to have stuff ready if it isn't. Any help would be great.

Re: Bridal Party luncheon menu ideas
How about scones and jam? You can make all sorts of finger sanwiches other than cucumber....tuna salad, egg salad, etc. If you google tea sandwiches I'm sure you'll find lots of ideas.

Re: Bridal Party luncheon menu ideas
Leslie, if you cut off the crust of the bread, you can make any sandwich this way...how about a slice of ham or turkey, a slice of fontina or gruyere cheese and a small roasted red pepper. a nice white bread to use would be the Pepperidge Farm Thin sliced sandwich bread. it's very thin and perfect for cutting into rounds (just use an 'old-fashion' or rocks glass rim)
also, black and green olive pate would be delicious spread between two slices of bread....
if I can think of anything else, I will let you know.
oooh...how about doing mini grilled cheeses this way....just cut them into small rounds before grilling.....

Re: Bridal Party luncheon menu ideas
I believe that scones are a pretty traditional part of 'high tea' and they are very tasty. If you don't want those maybe you can have mini muffins. For sandwiches the possibilities are pretty endless but here are my suggestions.
1. Smoked salmon with cream cheese and a hint of dill on brown bread/pumpernickel
2. Tuna or egg salad in a mini torta wrap.
3. Mozzarella and Tomato on Focaccia bread
4. Brie and apples on french bread
5. Peanut butter and bananas on chocolate bread. (Which you can get at Au Bon Pain)
6. Hummus with tomato in mini pita pockets
7. Thinly sliced beef with melted cheese (like a cheese stake) on a roll sliced into sections
8. Falafel (sp?) in mini pita
