OMG I can't freaking believe this UPDATED

I just got let go by my boss through....IM

Turns out he called me tonight and FH said I wasn't home, and IM was the only way I knew how to reach him. He said the company needs a CFO (which I do not have qualifications for) because they need a lot more work than I am capable of, but he knows 2 people that are looking for bookkeepers, and is asking them tonight for me.

I was kind of looking for something else anyway because my hands are tied at the job. Anytime I move 2 steps forward, someone does something to move me 3 steps back. So it is just as well, but the timing absolutely bites.

I have a few saving graces I suppose.

1. Since I was claiming unemployment before this job, there will be no delay in getting unemployment again.

2. I took a pay cut to work there.

3. They are very disorganized. They just hired someone to organize them. She is doing a great job, but I know she realizes she will go through hell before she gets it done.

4. They had video cameras everywhere watching you, I had to give my fingerprint to get into the office and keyloggers were on all of the computers. I felt like I was working for the FBI or the CIA or something.

5. I was not given everything I needed to do my job properly. Which was frustrating to no end, because I would ask over and over.

6. It was out near nothing. While it was 5 mins from home, I would have preferred to commute for an hour just to have a place I could walk to for lunch.

7. FH says they just used me to get their accounting up to date since it was such a mess. It took me 3 months because I had to enter all of the transactions for 2005. That's how bad it was. And yet he was telling me it was taking too long.

8. We're at the year end which means everyone is looking for someone in accounting to handle their year end stuff and the upcoming tax season. (One of the reasons our wedding date is after April 15th!)

I told FH I refuse to let him limit me anymore on where I can work since we only have one car. I told him if I can work in the city again I will regardless of how early I have to get up because I would rather commute and be happy than stay close and be miserable.

Of course this means I am out another $90.

That stinks-but sometimes these things happen for a reason-you were looking for something else anyway-just speed up your search?! You are obviously an intelligent, savvy women-you'll be able to find a better job in no time! Best of luck luv!

Janna I'm so sorry to hear this! Make sure you head down to the unemployment office first thing in the morning and apply for benefits while you look for something else. It won't be full pay, but some is better than none.

On a brighter note, I'm happy to hear your hair & makeup trials went well, but where are the pics???

I am filing unemployment next week.

That is really unprofessional.... you should write to the head of the company the owners and tell them what happened just for your own peace of mind...

It was the owner who told me in the IM if you can believe that. It's a small company, maybe 12 people total.
