What can moms do?

I am looking for a unique way to incorporate both our mothers into the ceremony since they've both been extremely helpful through this planning process plus they've done a fab job raising us and they deserve recognition!

However, I don't know how! Any ideas?

At a wedding I attented, they had the moms do the unity candle instead of the couple, it was nice but I don't want to do it again since it's basically the same crowd.

Please help...

TIA

they could each do a reading during the ceremony.

I think you can have the moms do the unity candle...I think it's just a matter of preference whether couples have both parents or just the moms as part of that.

I'd suggest having them do a reading together - maybe the one where you talk about the people who couldn't be at the wedding - but they'll probably be too emotional to get up and speak.

One nice gesture I've seen is - if you're having a full mass - during the sign of peace, you and your FH give your moms a single rose each.

Sorry I couldn't be more help.

Re: What can moms do?

Have them make the favors or the CPs. Or maybe ask them to both make the unity candle. A gift from both moms. They could either build a candle from scrach or just buy a candle and decorate it. That way it combines their love and a great gift for the bride and groom.

Maybe have them give out the bags of seed, petals (whatever) to everyone. Or you could ask them to combine a speech, poem or song, and recite it together. Or have them pick out a song or poem. Or just ask them to say a few words.

You and your FH could make a vow to your MILs that you will love each other or something very sweet.

I hope this helps.

Re: What can moms do?

at our wedding, we had the moms light the pillars candles next to the unity candle in the beginning of the ceremony- they came down the aisle together and everything... then during the ceremony, dh and i lit the unity candle from those pillars....
or... at my friends wedding, she had each set of parents write a letter to them just saying sappy stuff like " from the time you were born, i always hoped you would find a guy like chris to marry" or things like that.... the pastor read them, so that the moms didn't have to worry about getting too emotional, and it really personalized the whole ceremony.....
