The Grooms' Review 11/12 Fox Hollow

Although I have never posted I did use LIW to research all of my vendors and for general wedding info, so I just wanted to thank all the people who have contributed to the site for your great info and recommendations.

Here is a review from a grooms perspective:

Mother Nature: A
The day/night was nearly perfect, we had a 7PM ceremony on 11/12 and if it had been a few degrees warmer we may have moved it outside.

Hair and Makeup: A+
My wife look unbelievably beautiful, unfortunately I don't know who the vendors where.

Dresses: ?
Aside from the bride there where 9 other girls in the wedding party and everyone got their dress from Bridal Reflections. I think they where pretty happy with the service however, you can only get alterations done one weekend day a month which seemed to cause several scheduling issues. Everyone looked fantastic.

Tuxedos: C+
San Marko Formal Wear in Yonkers, until the day of the wedding they had an 'A', their service was good and the Tuxedos seemed to be in excellent condition. Unfortunately, they gave one of my groomsman the wrong style tux (which of course he did not notice until we started taking pictures) and the father of the bride found a fake fingernail inside his breast pocket.

Invitations: B
Perfect Wedding Planner, we really liked the invites and where generally happy with the service and price.

Calligraphy, Invites and Place Cards: A+
Inkspun, It was very inexpensive with no mistakes and a 3 day turn around, what's not to love?

Limo: ?
I was not important enough to ride in the Limousine, all the girls took a limo to the Fox Hollow hotel where I had been in exile from the previous night as we did not want to see each other before the wedding.

Florist: A+
Party Sensations, what a great vendor; we had originally seen her a bridal expo and liked some of her centerpieces so we went to see her in her office and we where really impressed with some of the large theme events that she has previously planned. We booked her not yet having a specific idea of exactly what we wanted; when we went back a few months later to finalize everything, we brought in pictures of exactly with we wanted for the room and personals. After meeting with her for 5 minutes she informed us that everything we picked out was wrong for the room and the wedding and she was 100% correct, we just let her handle everything and it came out absolutely perfect.

Harp/Cello/Flute Trio: Ceremony A, Cocktail Hour B
We hired Janet King to play Harp solo for the ceremony and it was beautiful, we then had her and 2 other musicians for the cocktail hour and they where very good. The only issue with the cocktail hour was volume, the un-amplified instruments where somewhat drown out or completely inaudible towards the back of the room.

DJ: A+
Body Rock Entertainment, I had allot of reservations when first booking them primarily due to the fact that they do not allow you to meet your MC and DJ before the Wedding. Happily my concern was for not, these guys where total pros, the MC had people dancing all night, I don't think he could have done a better job.

Photography: Day of B+, Pictures ?
Pro Line Studios, I have not gotten my proofs so it's hard to rate this vendor yet but the photographer worked well with us and was not too intrusive during the reception.

Catering Hall: Fox Hollow - I am going to rate this in several pieces.

Prior to wedding day: C
We had several issues with the Fox Hollow prior to the wedding, we had multiple issues where we made a payment and then they would send us letters stating that we had not paid. This happened on more then one occasion and no one there was able to resolve the issue for weeks. Additionally the main contact there Jen is a sweetheart and when you sit down with her she is a pleasure to work with however, she is next to impossible to get on the phone, on more then one occasion I left MANY messages for her over 1 week plus spans that went un answered.

Wedding day Prior to the reception: D
We wanted to take pictures in the Fox Hollow photo studio prior to the ceremony @4pm and I discussed this with Jen because I was concerned that another couple getting married might possibly be using that room. I was assured that the only other wedding was just a reception @8PM and that they where not using the photo room so it was ours to use. Of course that was not the case, the room was in use and unavailable to us so we had to all walk through the kitchen to a small non descript room in order to take photographs against the backdrop of a white wall. I went into the photo room after the other wedding party was done and they had this incredible buffet spread in there which of course we missed out on as well - this also Leads me to believe that they where aware the entire time that another couple would be utilizing the photo room.

The only thing that prevents them from getting a full on 'F' here is that the bridal attendant Megan was just incredible, I would strongly recommend that anyone else getting married at the Fox Hollow request her and tip BIG!

Ceremony, Cocktail and Reception: A
Really it could not have gone any better everything was excellent. The place looked beautiful, the food was great, service was outstanding and they ran the event very well. Why not an A+ then? The cake was not great and they forgot to put all the favors out, so not everyone got something. I think the biggest hit at the wedding where those Chinese slippers for the girls so I would strongly recommend that people do that.

Hotel: B+
Fox Hollow Inn, very cute little hotel they probably cost more then your average Long Island Inn but if your having an event at the Fox Hollow it's worth it. They should offer room service and put a bar in the lobby, breakfast was excellent.

Honeymoon: A+++++
Hawaii, Mandarin Oriental Kahala (5 nights) and the 4 Seasons Resort Maui (7 nights). How could this not get an A+? The trip was amazing both hotels are just first class all the way, yes it's expensive but IMO well worth it. I can't write a more detailed review of this as thinking about it too much will force me to quit my job and relocate.....

OMG your adorable! Thanks for the reviews. Its nice to see what matters most to the groom too, since we ladies are stressing about EVERY little detail.
