Jewish Brides - Limo Question

I'm getting married in a temple with a catering hall. Why would I need a limo? Any thoughts would be helpful.

Re: Jewish Brides - Limo Question

To get from the place where you're getting dressed to the Temple. That's what we did, anyway. We also stopped on our way from the hotel at a park to take pictures.

Re: Jewish Brides - Limo Question

We aren't doing limos. I am getting dressed and having my make up done in the bridal room at the temple which has catering facilities. I may take a plain car service (town car or something)with my MOH to the temple because FH is driving us back to the hotel but I am not telling them I am a bride b/c they will charge more.

ETA: duh, I forgot you and I are getting married in the same place. I heard they have a roof now!!!

I had it to take us from pics at my aunts house to the Temple. We rode with our parents.

Re: Jewish Brides - Limo Question

FH and his boys went in one from his parents house to Temple.

I went in one from my mom's house to Temple. I had one BM and my niece and nephew with me. We took photos with the limo (Rolls) when I got there.

After the wedding, we took the Rolls to our hotel.

My dress might not have fit into a regular car!!! And the limo was very clean!!

You could do without the limo but this was easier for us (and fun).

Yay, a roof! Great idea with for the plain car service. I just keep thinking getting a limo is a waste of money, but if someone could make a good argument for why I need one, I would do it. I have a few friends in my bridal party and keep wondering how they'll get to avodah... of course, then I remind myself, this should not be my problem but I have a terrible tendency to want to make everyone happy (which cannot happen with wedding planning!!)

Re: Jewish Brides - Limo Question

I put on the dress at teh hall. WE didn't use limos, my mom drove me there, and at the end of the night, DH and I and his parents got into a cab! One less thing to spend $ on for us....

I agree, there are a million other places I'm wasting money! I like the idea of just getting a town car. We have a car, but the idea of getting into our junkly little car and driving home after the wedding seems too wierd... Thanks for the feedback!

We definatly did not want to drive ourselves, so that we could drink. The funny thing was, we hardly drank anything! But I'm still glad we didn't have to worry about driving... good luck!

Re: Jewish Brides - Limo Question

one reason I wanted a limo was for the pictures... traditional, I know. But I got 'em and they're great pics.

it was only about $100 more than car service would have been. I looked into that option as well. for $100, it was more than worth it to me.

We are getting married after the sun goes down in the dead of winter so taking pictures outside before the wedding wouldn't have been an option for us. To pay hundreds for a fancy limo to take me (and my MOH who is staying with me) in plain clothes to the temple is just silly. I will have given FH my clothes for the next day and make up the night before at the hotel where we will be the night of the wedding (and where he is staying the night before). I'll have a bag of clothes with me to change into when the wedding is over and someone ELSE will take my dress home.

OHHH - good idea, I didn't think about someone taking the dress home for me after the wedding. Very practical! (I'm stuck in obsessive mode about little details - this is sooo helpful)

We didn't use one. My dad drove to the wedding from Staten Island with me and my mom, and I got dressed at the temple.

Re: Jewish Brides - Limo Question

if you're getting ready at the temple - do you get everything done there? hair and makeup? Is it important to have those getting ready at home pics? I'm leaning more and more toward forgetting the limo - thanks everyone!

IMO, this is 100% a personal preference. there is no wrong answer.

if you want pictures at home, you obviously would be getting hair, MU & dressed at home. and that would be a good reason to get a limo.

if you want to get dressed at the hall, no need for a limo. might as well save some $$.
