Where are you taking pictures if it Rains?
I am really struggling with the ceremony time (2 or 3) and where to take pictures. Eric from Duet suggested the Planting Fields which I will go check out today. However what if it rains? My cocktail hour starts at 7PM. The church is located in Queens on the Queens Blvd exit on the LIE. The reception is at Leonards. I am not sure how the timing works if it ends up raining unless the Planting Fields have indoor places where you can take pictures. Also if we have the ceremony at 2PM, then I think I will need to get the Limos for 4 hours instead of 3 right? THen if we show up to Leonard's at 5:30 or so we can take pictures and relax in the bridal suite?

Re: Where are you taking pictures if it Rains?
We had the permit to take pics at the Planting Fields, and it rained my ENTIRE day. My parents, brother, and DH and I were all staying at the Marriott in Uniondale, so we went back there to take pics in between our 2:30 mass, and 7pm cocktail hour. It was fine, they were so nice, and DH and I got to attend our entire cocktail hour.

Re: Where are you taking pictures if it Rains?
xcalystax, my wedding is the day after your's and I am opting for a 2pm ceremony, not a Mass, because this year on November18th, the sun set at 4:45pm. If we have 230 or 3pm church, then we have less chance of getting sunlight in our outdoor pictures. BUT, if it rains, then we'll have to go to the hall for pictures. We are going from our Church in Astoria to Central Park and then our reception is at Russo's.

I have no idea what we'll do - that question came to my mind the other day - we are having everything at Harborclub in Huntington - ceremony and reception - plus we want it outside, and we chose it because we loved the pictures from there - what are our options for somehting like that????

Re: Where are you taking pictures if it Rains?
hmm I don't know, I've never been to any of those. Location-wise, I think Glendale is the closest to Howard Beach, but you haven't decided where to take your pics, right? That might be the deciding factor.

Does your photographer have a studio? How is the lobby at the Harborclub?

No - no studio, and the lobby is very small - nothing that great...
Hmmm...
I was hoping to have ONE more thing to stress about...

Re: Where are you taking pictures if it Rains?
You know something? I asked a photographer we interviewed about a contingency plan for rain. He showed me photos of couples standing under giant umbrellas in the rain! The pictures were beautiful. And of course, he suggested going to the hall for the pics.

Me 2
I don't really think there are that many photo opps at the hall and no studio. Yikes. Basically if it rains I'm screwed.

I was thinking about that on the way to the Oyster Bay... I think I will need to move the ceremony to 2pm, and if it rains find a way to entertain myself and the bridal party..charades anyone?

Re: Where are you taking pictures if it Rains?
Since our ceremony is at our hall, I'm guessing we would either have to take pictures in my hotel or simply take pictures at the hall, but trying to have our guests see us at the same time as they are coming in!!!

Re: Where are you taking pictures if it Rains?
We are taking our pictures at the hotel where our reception is. When I went to meet with our photographer, he brought out pictures he took from burningwithlove's wedding there, all inside because it was so hot that day, and they were wonderful.Ask your photographer if he can recommend any indoor places and if he has any pics he can show you from there.
