My April 14th Wedding at OHEKA Castle...Part 1...LONG!!!
Hello Brides-To-Be!
I realize this is a little late, but I hope that it is helpful to someone. I want to say that I don`t have all my tel#`s with me, so I`ll give as much info as I can so that if you would like to reach the vendor, you can find them in the phone book. I`ve always appreciated when a bride came back and gave her imput on the vendors that she and her fi paid, for such an important day. I hope this helps someone!!
**Church of the Lutheran Epiphany, Hempstead, NY: This is the only church that would allow us to get married Easter weekend (holiest Saturday in the Lutheran Calendar)!!! Thank God for them! Our own Pastor performed the ceremony, but the church was SOOOO accommodating and wonderful! It really was a pleasure to work with that Church!
**Oheka Castle: I gave a review of this after my honeymoon...ABSOLUTELY MAGNIFICENT is really all I can say... We love Kelli Melius (631-692-2707) so much we consider her our friend. Such was a pleasure to work with and she helped to make all our dreams come true. The staff during my wedding were phenomenal!! My guests were treated beautifully from beginning to end... We spent the night there in the suite and stayed until 4pm the next day with some of our family and friends, who also spent the night in the castle!! Talk about fun! Also, if you`re having a wedding at Oheka, do the Jazz/Cigar Hour at the end...It was so much fun, the jazz band was great and it is a terrific way to wind down to the evening.
**Paul Campbell Couture: FABULOUS!!! I designed my own gown, my original designer dissappeared (really) w/o doing anything for my dress. Suffice to say I found Paul (718-842-6093) 7 weeks before the wedding and he made MY DESIGN to a TEE!!! It was a great price and people were taking his cards at the wedding! He does wedding gowns, mother of the bride and evening wear. He is truly amazing!
**Motion Pictures, Inc., Central Islip, NY: Dave Thaler (631-232-3589), the owner, went to the same private high school as Chip and I!! They are so wonderful--expensive--but worth every penny. Though we have yet to see our video (too busy) they were with us from when we started to get dressed until jazz cigar hour!!! It`s documentary style and we really had fun with them! We think Dave and his crew had fun at our wedding too!
**Mark Kauffman Photography, Port Jefferson, NY: Mark really worked with Chip and I on a package and price that we could afford. Though we purchased 2 photographers he bought 2 more with him so it was like the paparazzi (sp?), though it WAS NOT intrusive at all. Our proofs, all 2200 of them, are gorgeous and we are really happy with them.
**Dalsimer Florists, Cedarhurst, NY: Though when we first met them we didn`t know if we liked them, we know we loved their work. We worked with Debbie and they made exactly what we wanted. The centerpieces were gorgeous! Now, when I came downstairs at the Oheka and realized that they didn`t make my 3 maids-of-honor bouquets different, with white and fushia calla lilies, I never skipped a beat. I asked Debbie, she acted surprised and I went on with my wedding day. They were all fushia calla bouquets, I chose the three largest ones and gave those to them and the other four got their bouquets. I also wasn`t too thrilled with my bouquet, but I really should have given a picture instead of explaining and leaving it to Debbie`s discretion. In the end, all the girl`s bouquets look beautiful in the pictures so it was fine. They are pricey, but they really worked with us to give us a fair price. Our centerpieces were STUNNING and our entrance piece on the stairwell---oh my God!!! GORGEOUS!!! I have pictures if anyone wants to see! They decorated Oheka beautifully. We were really happy with that.
