I swear, he has ESP or something.

I went and bought his Christmas gift today, and tonight when I was talking to him on the phone I told him I'd gotten it. He's awful about surprises - he always wants to guess - so he got all aggitated until I gave him a hint.

This is the hint I gave him:
'It's bigger than a rabbit. And it's not furry.'

Sounds like it could be anything, right? Any sort of larger electronic equipment, articles of clothing... anything.

He immediately guesses: 'It's a tank for Merlin' (his bearded dragon)

How do you get '55 gallon reptile tank' from 'bigger than a rabbit and not furry'?

He's insane.

oy. So, he's ruined the surprise. The upside is that a) he's really happy about it, although he wants to do a little research to make sure I got the right size, and b) now I don't have to try to hide that huge frickin thing until Christmas!

Edit: Since blu-ize asked to see a picture of Merlin, here she is. I was never a huge reptile fan, but she's a real sweetheart.

OMG too funny! I just bought FH tickets to Billy Joel in February and can u beleive last night he tells me he is about to order them!!! I had to tell him I got them for him, I wanted to kill him!!!!

Nobody could have tipped him off... I only got it yesterday! And the only person I told ahead of time was my mother, and she wouldn't tell him.

He said something like 'when you said 'not furry' I immediately thought of smooth, and since you mentioned the rabbits, I thought of animal related... so I guessed tank.'

oy.

Maybe it's just a sign that he really wanted one so it was on his mind

Merlin is beautiful....my fiance loves lizards he wants a blue tongued skint (i think thats what its called) i have never had one but def want one...i think bearded dragons are so cool

i cant believed he guessed what you got him, especially after just that clue but it sounds like something my fh would do he hates surprises too

Aw, she's not scary at all. A lot of reptiles kind of creep me out, but Merlin is really sweet. She's really calm and will just sit on your shoulder and relax. When my fiance had her with him at college and they'd have fire drills, he'd stick her in the kangaroo pocket of his hoodie, and she'd just chill out there until they went back inside!
