Wedding Review September 3, 2005

My wedding was September 3, 2005 at the Timber Point Country Club. It was perfect weather and the most beautiful day of my life. Mike and I have dated nine years and I had been dreaming of this day for so long. I have to admit I miss the planning and wish I could do it all over again. I never thought I would say that.

I also wanted to thank Long Island Weddings! Even though I did not post much I was a constant lurker. I received so many valuable tips from this website. It was so nice to come to a website and have all your questions answered. You girls are great! I could never thank you enough for all your help during my wedding planning.

Ceremony -St. Josephs Church Babylon -A+++++
My dream was to get married in the church I did my first communion and confirmation. I was married by Deacon Michael Leydon . I graduated high school with his daughter (small world). It was a beautiful ceremony and I was filled with so much emotion. To my surprise I did not cry during me vows or walking down the aisle. I got that all out of my system during the limo ride to the church.

Rehearsal Dinner- Franks Dockside Café – Babylon- A++++++
I work there during the summer when I have off from teaching. Mary is the chef and she helped me choose my menu. We had a buffet style rehearsal dinner and the food was delicious. The majority of my guest took leftover trays of food.

Limos- All Star- Farmingdale- A+++++
They are expensive but they are well worth the money. The cars were clean and their staff is professional. They picked us up on time and were courteous and friendly. My limo driver kept fixing my veil. He kept giving me little words of wisdom and asking if I was okay. I guess he could tell I was nervous.

Jen is an artist. We met with many florists and I was getting so discouraged. I knew that I did not want to spend a lot of money but I did want something elegant and classic. She gave us so many ideas and came to our house on three separate occasions to show us samples. Her flowers are beautiful and she works with you. I would highly recommend her to anyone. Our hall looked so romantic and beautiful. She even decorated our cake with fresh flowers. I remember walking in to our hall and just being blown away. Thank you Jen you made my dreams come true.

DJ- Glenn -Get In Tune – A++++++++++

We met Glenn and just liked him right away. It also helped that our photographer highly recommended him. Mike and I have families that love to dance and music was really important to us. My family is also Cuban and Argentinean so it was important to have a DJ who knew good Spanish music. Glenn and his crew outdid themselves. Our dance floor was packed the entire night. People are still talking about our music and how much fun they had at our wedding. We also got plasma screens for the photo montage through Get in Tune. They put on a good show and really listen to what you have to say. They played every song we wanted to hear that night.

Jonathan is the best! We love him! I saw his work on the Knot. He works out of his home and used to work for another photography studio. He decided to branch out on his own. He is amazing photographer and makes you feel as if you have known him for years. We told him we wanted to be part of our cocktail hour and to please make sure we did not get pulled out our wedding for pictures. He let us party and enjoy our wedding without missing a beat. He took so many great pictures it was so hard for us to decide on what to put in our album. Jonathan thank you!

Catering Hall – Timber Point Country Club- A+++++++++++++++++

We had an appointment with Ben from Timber Point Country Club but he was running late. We were about to leave when Isaiah one of the Maitre D’s saw us and said if you stay a few more minutes we will buy you lunch. You will not be disappointed I promise. Well give me some food and I will be happy. We stayed had lunch and Ben showed up. He gave us a tour and we loved it. They have done a lot of work in the last couple of years. We also loved that it was one wedding at a time. Timber Point has a special charm to it. It’s cozy and warm and yet elegant and classy. This is exactly what we were looking for in a catering hall. Ben helped us thought-out the wedding planning process. Most of our contact was through email but any question we had he answered us. We specifically requested Isaiah to be our Maitre’ D because we thought he was really nice and he literally kept us and would not let us leave. I also loved that he spoke Spanish because it meant a lot to me that my side of the family would be comfortable if they needed anything. Fast forward to the day of the wedding we walked in and Isaiah was not there. We were greeted by April another Maitre’D. Mike and I look at each other and was like Oh no! Turns out Isaiah got appendicitis the day before our wedding. Timber Point knew that half of the guest would be Spanish so that made sure all the wait staff on my family’s side spoke Spanish. They made sure Mike and I had a drink and were fed at all times. April was amazing she definelty knows how to run a wedding. Everything there turned out great and they exceeded my expectations.

Dress- Adrienne’s Bridal- East Islip- A++++++
After searching high and low for a dress and getting discouraged someone suggested I tried Adrienne’s Bridal. My dress was a Marissa 572. I knew as soon as I tried it on it was a keeper. I never felt so happy. It was a very simple dress nothing that I thought I would wear but I loved it. I wish I could wear it everyday! I know they have received mixed reviews on this website but I had no problems.

Seamstress – Cleo A+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Cleo is a true angel. She works at Adrienne’s Bridal. I am so grateful to have met her. She even helped me with my mom’s dress two days before the wedding. Talk about stress. She altered all my bridesmaid dresses. One of my bridesmaid lives in Connecticut so she could not drop off her dress to Cleo until the day of the rehearsal dinner. Cleo even came to my house the day of the wedding to help me get dressed. I can’t thank Cleo enough for all she did for me and my family.

Favors- Wrap with Us- Syosset - A
We ordered ice cream scoopers and filled them with almonds. Wrap with us was reasonable and we got our order a few days after ordering. We had no problems. I went back a few times to order little odds and ends.

Thank you girls for all the beautiful comments. The day was like a dream come true. Despite all the stress and chaos beforehand everything just clicked that day.

I forgot to add my cathedral veil got stuck in the tire of the golf cart on the way back from taking pictures and tore a huge hold in my veil.

Even though I was upset I knew I had to keep moving foward and some things are out of your control. The day is so short you can't let the little things upset you!
