My friend is making me feel bad
A REALLY good friend of mine (BM actually) has NEVER once complimented my e-ring. Then this morning i told her that i had to bring it in to get fixed and shes like 'well i guess youll have to upgrade'. She said it laughing but it made me feel like crap. Then I told her that i COULD change the setting and maybe get a solitaire setting and bigger stone bc the pave setting i have is so sensitive and I will worry about it forever and when i told her that, she made a face like 'do it'. My center stone is really not big bc the setting is not meant for a big stone. I know she has always thought 'her ring is so small' and it annoys me. I picked it out and i love it but it bothers me SO MUCH!!!!Thoughts??????????????????
This is what my e-ring looks like. I get SOOOOO many compliments on it and for some f-ed up reason, the only compliment Im waiting for is hers

I love your ring! I think it is gorgeous & unique! Don't let her comments bother you...You are the one that is wearing it & as long as you are happy, then that is what matters!!! Remember, this is something that FH got for you & has meaning behind it!

Re: My friend is making me feel bad
First of all, your ring is gorgeous. You said it yourself 'you picked it out and you love it'.Secondly, your friend is a *****. Don't let people bring you down. She is obviously just jealous and a hurtful person.
My advice, drop the friend, keep the ring.

Re: My friend is making me feel bad
I have a 3 stone ring and the center diamond is not huge, but it's bigger than the other 2. One of my BM said just about the same thing to me. She was like, 'the center should've been bigger, maybe you can change it after for your 1st anniversary'. I ignored her and she just got engaged a few months ago and she has a teeny tiny solitaire and she has to pretend she's thrilled with it. Karma's a *****.
Ignore your friend. She's probably jealous.

I know what you are saying is SOOOOO right but it still gets to me. She is jealous I know that bc she was also waiting to get engaged and when FI proposed to me, she broke up w. her boyfriend bc he didnt propose to her. Now her WHOLE life is about all the guys she is meeting etc. Im tired of it to be honest.

I know the feeling!! Jealousy is something that is so evil in my eyes! Instead of 'friends' being happy for you, they get jealous! I had a friend get engaged before me & I was never jealous, I was so thrilled for her & so excited to plan her wedding with her!
But people react differently to things...I might be wrong by saying this, but from what you said, 'she broke up with her BF bc he didn't propose' to me, it seems that she is materialistic & not really looking for the 'real' meaning of engagement! So remember something, you are not any better then her bc you have this ring, but you are lucky to have found someone that loves you the way you love them! Plus you are entering into another phase of your life & if this was a true friend, she would be so happy for you & jealousy would not even enter into her mind!

Re: My friend is making me feel bad
Michele.. Your ring is gorgeous. I know its easier said than done, but you shouldn't ever let people like her make you feel bad. Thats the ring Matt wanted you to have when he asked you to marry him. Its a symbol of your love.. not a bling bling status symbol. Some people are toxic. You need to rid yourself from people like that.

Re: My friend is making me feel bad
I agree with the others.. Your friend is definately jealous. I had the same problem with one of my friends when I got engaged. She said to someone that my setting is 'too high'
Yea ok thats why anywhere I go I get complimented on it. Funny thing is she isnt engaged.... hmmm wonder why!
Your ring is absolutely stunning!! I love it.

Re: My friend is making me feel bad
Honestly your e-ring is one of the most gorgeous and unique rings I have seen - ever! I don't know what she is looking at, but it looks perfect to me! (and your e-ring/wedding band combo will be awesome!)
Don't let your friend get you down. Weddings bring out the best and worst (sadly) in people.

Re: My friend is making me feel bad
It sounds like she's jealous. I wouldn't let it bother you. Your ring is gorgeous and as long as you love it, that is all that matters. I have a lady in my office that called my ring 'cute'. At first I was like 'What the #!@?' but then I remembered that she's a miserable person who couldn't find happiness if you gave her laughing gas and I was okay with it. Don't worry about it!

Re: My friend is making me feel bad
Michele, having seen your ring in person, I can tell you that it's gorgeous!! Do not let what other people say get to you. Their opinions do not matter, they're not the ones that will be wearing it.I had the same experience happen to me as well. My ring is not large, only 1 carat total, and I picked my ring also. Anything larger didn't look right on me. And one of my old co-workers said 'oh you can get something larger on an anniversary!'. I wanted to smack her, but then I had to remind myself that sometimes people are ignorant.
Don't let it get to you!!! Life is too short to stress the small stuff!!!

Re: My friend is making me feel bad
Thanks everyone. I know you can all understand wher eiM coming from. The thing is, when she and i became friends she was w/ her boyfriend. And now that she is single again, im seeing sides of her that i find annoying and MATERIALISTIC. Im so not into that. Shes all about status and followingt he crowd and Im not and I could careless about what others do and about timelines etc. URRRR I feel like i need a break from her but i cant get away (we work together too)

Honey, forget her. I love your ring. I cut it out of the magazine to show the jeweler who custom made mine. I love it!!! Don't change it, it is so unique and beautiful...so much so that I stole the idea!!! My ring is very similar and I get nothing but compliments on it all day long. Seriously, don't change it, it is beautiful.
