I'm getting DH a PUPPY!!!!!! UPDATE: DH was sooo surprised!! with new PICS
We are having them brought to our house today to decide!!!!
YAY, I can't wait to give it to DH, I just don't want to give him back until next week!!!
He's gonna be so shocked, and happy too!
Wish me luck.
I also got a crate on ebay for $9.99!!!!!!
ETA:
DH was so shocked and then nervous, then happy, then nervous and back to happy. It's a lot of work and they are both adjusting...but Norton (I have no say in that name) is doing fina. A few little sicky things, but hopefullall will be okay in a week or so.

Just a little PSA for everyone. If you are getting a puppy as a a gift, PLEASE PLEASE make sure the recipient WANTS the animal because this time of year, many, many unwanted puppies end up in shelters because well-intentioned people give them as gifts and peopel just cannot handle them. And sadly, many of them get put to sleep.
I just needed to add that. And that being said, I'm sure you would know or not if your DH really wants one! So enjoy!

I SO agree! And also am sure that curliegirl knows if he wants one! I also say that you should get obedience training early and stick with it!! I wish I had done that-one of my pups is having a house wetting issue and it's harder when they are older!!
I can't wait until FH and I get a puppy (at least 3 years away!)...congrats!!!

Anyone else interested in getting a puppy please consider shelters. so many great dogs are there. I personally think its silly to spend hundreds of dollars on puppys when shelters have so many that truly need good homes.

Well, DH and I have been wanting to get a dog for a number of years now, and he is on furlow from work for about 14 weeks, so he will have the time to help train. It is something we have wanted to do for a long time. Thanks for the advice though.....
As far as the shelters go, I tried to get a lab from a rescue and got jerked around by the woman there and really want DH to have the dog he has always wanted (he was never able to have a dog). I agree that shelters have wonderful dogs, and I have gotten one from NSAL, but this time I just want DH to get what he wants....sorry if that offends anyone.....

yay! thats great your fh will be home with the puppy for a while! the training was rough with our little pom, if one of us could have been home with her more than we were it would have expedited the process for sure! enjoy! ~lacey

I grew up always having dogs and they were all adopted from shelters or were rescues. I loved those dogs so much. When I moved out for the first time, I had to get a dog because I didn't know how to live without one. I bought Jack from a breeder. At first I was guilty but he is the best thing in my life. I love him more than anything. That's him in my avator! My baby!

Have fun with the new pup...I just got one from NSAL in April..he is HUGE now...but I love him, and he trained really quick with the crate...never pooped int he house, and only peed twice!!! Now he doesnt need the crate anymore..he is a good boy...GOOD LUCK!!

CONGRATS!!!! I think it's awesome that you are getting your hunny the dog he always wanted! My FH wants a boxer sooooooooooooooo bad I told him when the lil ones are gone to college he can get another doggy lol I have a shepard mix and he has a Jack russel so when the families merge it is going to be one big household...But I can't wait.

Labs are such wonderful dogs!!! FIL's just got a chocolate lab puppy and my FH's cousin just got a yellow lab pup!!! They are so adorable!!! I'm so happy for you!!! We are going to get one in April (probably a lab also b/c DH loves them - I havent met a dog i didnt like)!!
Keep us posted!! Does he have a name picked out? FH wants to name our dog Raider when we get one.
