Everyone at work! Parents are the pits!!!!!

Hi ladies if work is slow please read. I own a Daycare in the Bronx. Ages 1 to 10. It's naptime. Ok I'm livid. Not one parent called me this morning to see if I had my Staff here which I don't. I called one parent who is a RECEPTIONIST. she JUST HAD to get to work. Schools are delayed 2 hours. These kids four and six. She leaves them home so she can try to get to work. So they can wait for the school bus. Two hours after she leaves. I have no way of going to get these kids from school later on today because I have no Staff. The parents just assume It's all good. She never called me I had to call her. Another mother just had to go into Manhattan this morning. She sent her preschooler to school. She never asked If I was able to pick her up. Now at the time My staff was trying to come in. Now I know for sure they can't. I have my one year old here too. A lot of you don;t have kids. Also I was receptionist many years before this career move. So I have nothing against them. But seriously honey. The company will run without you. Please put your kids first.

maybe she will get fired if she doesn't go to work... then she won't be able to pay for day care.

The city of New York pays for the kids daycare.

I hear what your saying. But you never leave kids alone at home. I can't pick them up after school. She won't return my calls. She could get arrested for child endangerment. How do I know if the kids even got to school. They are not allowed to answer the phone.

Wait, she left the kids at home by themselves?? What kind of mother does that? You should call the police and have them check out the house to make sure they are ok!!

I might have to I'm not responsible for that. i don't care some boss told me. I'm not leaving my children alone anywhere. If I get fired I'll have to mve in with my mother. What's the logic of these parents. Is it that serious? One had the nerve to say I'll guessI'll see u when I see u. Meaning she didn;t know what time she would be back in the Bronx. I don't get paid for extra time. The city pays for alot of these kids tuition. The city is not going to ask did this parent come in two hours late. I have a family too. FH and my daighter need me also. I already work ten hours with these kids.

I don't know if anyone here is a parent, but sometimes you have NO OTHER OPTION to leave your children at home.

I'm not justifying it by any means, but depending on the ages of the children and other factors, such as a neighbor checking in often, or whatever, but I would call the house and the parent and check up rather than calling the police.

As far as your comment about the company running w/out her just b/c she's a receptionist - I can tell you this - I work for one of the top Investment Banks in the WORLD and our department would not function without our receptionist. So before you pass judgement (probably in the heat of the moment b/c you are upset about the reprecussions spilling over to you) on someone's position in a company, especially since there are a few ladies here that are Admins, receptionists, and other similar support positions.

Your last line sums it up perfectly. Your job can miss you for a few days. Why do this to your kids. They definitely should come 1st!!!!

Temps is a real word not a fantasy word. You don't leave your kids alone. I also said I was a RECEPTIONIST for many years. So that said I know the deal about work. As u can see My job does not stop either. I think a cigar company could funtion one day without that bozo.
