DIY Invte- Envelope liner

I want to buy plain envelopes, and nice paper, and create my own liner.
Trying to figure out the costs...
Does the liner need to extend the full depth oof the envelope? I am assuming that it would depend on the thickness of paper and envelope used, that would determine whether you can notice, but any ideas are appreciated.

Any one do this?
TIA!

Re: DIY Invte- Envelope liner

Thanks!
I am just wondering if you would notice if I didn't line the WHOLE envelope... Trial and error I suppose.

Re: DIY Invte- Envelope liner

It's not hard to line the whole envelope...but would I notice? No. Actually most envelopes are only lined a little past the 'triangle'. You should go to invitation places and look at books for ideas. Also, places like Kate's Paperie and Papyrus have free classes all the time. Same with Paper Access and Print Icon. Good luck!

Re: DIY Invte- Envelope liner

Thanks again!
I found paper I like, but I am trying to maximize the amount of liners I can make per sheet.

Re: DIY Invte- Envelope liner

i bought my envelopes from paper-source. They sell a liner template pack for theirs and I got that too. My envelopes are pretty thick and a blue color... but I think I will run the liner all the way to the 'bottom' of the envelope anyway. They are square and the 'V' where the flap goes is pretty deep, so I wouldn't be able to save that much paper anyhow.

Re: DIY Invte- Envelope liner

That's where I got my idea!!!
I figured if I use the deckle envelopes (with the square flap, and torn edge), I could use less...
How many liners do you expect to get from each 21'x31' sheet?

We bought our liner paper yesterday at Kate's and tried it out on one sheet. I think our paper is 18'x24' and we got 8 liners for our 5.75' square envelopes out of it. There was about 5' left at the bottom, which we are using for our belly bands. And I am saving all the scraps to use in our eventual wedding scrapbook. hope that helps. !
