Know any good places to get a dress dyed?
My mother decided to buy a dress today without me, and comes home with an 'ivory' dress. I am a little concerned...when you put it next to a white sweater it looks very yellow, but on its own, it looks white. What color is your moms dress? Do you think 'ivory' is ok?So I decided to take the dress to get dyed..maybe a darker shade...more of a beige, light brown..anyone know of a good place?

My mom's dress is teal.....jmo, but I don't think anyone (mother's, bm's, guests) should wear a white or ivory outfit..to me that is like competing with the bride.

That was my reaction as well! I was really upset with her when she showed me. I feel like shes jealous or something, it hurt. She said she would have it dyed if its that big of a deal to me.

Tell her that you feel that it's inappropriate, and that it makes you uncomfortable. Good luck....I hope she changes it for you, if not it's not the end of the world...everyone will be looking at you, not her

Re: What color is your moms dress?
Right now, my mom's dress is chocolate brown with bronze accents. Totally gorgeous!!IMHO, ivory (or anything in that family - ecru, white, diamond white, off white) is inappropriate for anyone other than the bride UNLESS the bride herself selects it (as in champagne colored BM dresses). I would be very disturbed if my mother of FMIL picked that color to wear.
I also think it is inappropriate for a family member to pick a color that is close to the color that the BP is wearing (anyone else is OK because they don't know, but family that knows what your color scheme is should avoid using it without permission).
