Re: Random Help Questions...

We loved the Roslyn Claermont Hotel for our wedding night. Our room was so beautiful and everyone there was great.

We used the Marv Austin and Orchestra for our wedding from Steven Scott and they were fantastic. We got so many compliments on the band.

As for favors we used Wrap With Us (they are in Syosset) and they were great too.

Re: Random Help Questions...

My best advice would be to run a search on each of the topics... you want to make sure you get the most amount of research for each of your topics...particularly the catering halls. For example some things to think about when it comes to catering halls is whether you need to be the only bride getting married at your catering hall or whether you can go with a larger venue that may have more than one wedding... price, feel and look...

Re: Random Help Questions...

For catering halls: the best advice is to buy Wedding Sites and Services magazine. Available in Borders, and Barnes & Noble. That will give you info on pricing, capacity, number of affairs that can be held at one time, etc. Go and visit based on availability or your date (or your willingness to pick any date available), and who can hold the max you think you will have, and give you the minimum guarantee you want. After you have narrowed down your choices, run a search for that hall on this site to see what other brides are saying. Keep in mind that every single place has girls that love it, and girls that hate it.

Hair/Makeup: from what I know all the LIW vendors are good. The favorites seem to be Jenn the Hair Genie, and Oksana for make-up. Again, you need to figure out how much you have to spend, and do trials to see if you like their work. For my sister's wedding, I loved my hair, my mother hated it, so I'm not using the same person as my sister did for hair.

Rooms for OOT guests: this is determined by the location of your catering hall. You don't want to book a hotel 30 miles away no matter how good it is!! Same thing goes for where you stay the night of the wedding.

I'm not sure what you mean by gift bags. If you mean bags for OOT guests, most girls throw in a bottle of water, some asprin, bag of cookies or chips, and info on local attractions. You can put in whatever you want.

Wedding favors are again a personal decision. Look and see what you yourself have gotten in the past and what you use, or have deposited in the trash, or is just hanging around collecting dust. Current popular favors are ice cream scoops, wine bottle stoppers, and donation favors.

Can't help with bands - we went with a DJ.

Hope this info helps get you started!!

Re: Random Help Questions...

You can actually get the Wedding Site and Services book for FREE at Fortunoff...that is how we started our search for reception halls. We did reception hall/church first and then did flowers, photographer and DJ next
