Check out the Peace Lodge in Costa Rica. We're staying there the first night or two of our HM before we move on to Arenal. We have several friends that stayed there and loved it. The rooms are awesome.

Re: Planning 2 trips: San Diego & Costa Rica...advice?

Costa Rica is awesome! Definitely rent a car because there is so much to see and you will need that freedom to go where you want. I went to Jaco (Central Pacific Coast) and it was cool, but not really that nice- It was good for what we wanted- a fun surf trip and to explore the culture. For our honeymoon, though, we are going to the Guanacaste region, which is def. nicer- there are really nice resorts there like Four Seasons, and where we are staying- the Paradisus Playa Conchal-- for ten days, airfare, all food and drinks, and a car, we are paying 4100.00 for the two of us. If you want more info, you can fm me.

Re: Planning 2 trips: San Diego & Costa Rica...advice?

Me and FH went to San Diego over the summer. The weather is unbelievable. I was actually wearing a sweater at night cause it got so chilly. We stayed at the Omni which is located in the Gaslamp District. I definitely recommend renting a car cause I think you totally need one. Also check out La Jolla so beautiful. Any questions feel free to fm me. We had a great time.

Best hotel in San Diego is Hotel Del Coronado...it is my favorite. Never stayed b/c I have family in SD that I stay with when I visit which is often! But I always go here for breakfast or lunch...so beautiful!

I second that - I went to Costa Rica and the Hot springs in Fortuna/Arenal were the absolute best. Baldi hot springs in Fortuna are also great, and they are open until 10:00, so you can go for a late night soak!!! Don't forget to also do a canopy tour of the rain forest.
