Wedding Dress Rentals or Used Gown Stores??

Hi Everyone - I am starting to rethink all of the $$ I had planned to spend on my wedding. I am now thinking of ways to cut my budget and one idea is the gown. Does anyone know of any reputable wedding gown rental or used gown stores with good selections?? Alternatively, if anyone is looking to sell their wedding dress, I am open!! I know some people are sentimental about their wedding dress and would definitely not be into this idea, but I recently had a friend that sold her gown after on e-bay . Thanks ladies!

Re: Wedding Dress Rentals or Used Gown Stores??

Hi There - unfortunately, many dress rental stores charge just about the same as ones you would buy.

What's your budget? There are gorgeous dresses out there for under $500 and even less!

Have you considered having your dress made? My dressmaker charges approximately $500 and that includes fabric.

Good Luck!

Re: Wedding Dress Rentals or Used Gown Stores??

There is a bridal salon in NYC called the Bridal Garden that has designer sample gowns and used gowns for sale, but they are still expensive, some over $1000 but the retail on many of them is over $4000.

I know when I was shopping for dresses I did find many beautiful gowns for under $1000 just off the rack at places like RK Bridal, Paradise Bridal, etc.

I would also suggest David's Bridal, they have some nice gowns without a huge price tag.

I would also call some salons and let them know your price range and see if they can accomodate you.

The Wedding Center in Commack sells all their sample gowns for $99--they have tons in every size. I also have one I didn't use that I'd sell, if you are interested.

If you want a designer dress, there is a company in Brooklyn (I think) called Myrjam that rents gowns for a percentage of the price.

Re: Wedding Dress Rentals or Used Gown Stores??

Some of the all-inclusive Chinese boutiques rent wedding dresses (since Chinese brides traditionally wear 4-6 dresses the day-of)...you can check out Wedding Group One (I think some girls on here have used them for photography), Wedding Box, and True Love in Flushing.

Or, if you're looking to buy a dress on a budget, I highly reccomend David's Bridal. I remember trying on some nice dresses there.

I would try Davids Bridal. They seem reasonable.

Re: Wedding Dress Rentals or Used Gown Stores??

i'm going thru one of the places where the rental is included in the whole package with phote/video/studio pictures. one thing i refused to do is rent my gown for my wedding day. it's your special day! you want to LOVE your dress!

some of these chinese rental is really poor quality but you may find something that you may like. look around.
