Did anyone do a yacht cruise for reception??

Hi all!
My FH and I are really leaning towards booking the Nautical Empress that goes out of Freeport for our wedding reception. We have looked at the Atlantica and Romantica ships in the city, as well as the Skyline Princess out of Flushing. But the Empress seems to be most convenient for us. However before we do go and book, we would like some feedback from people that have done this, or attending a reception on a yacht.
Our main concern involves people getting sea-sick. Ofcourse they have assured us that this NEVER happens due to the stability of the boat, but I would feel better if I heard this from someone who has experienced it!
I would greatly appreciate any feedback!
Thanks so much!

Re: Did anyone do a yacht cruise for reception??

I went on one out of Manhattan and iy was fine except for one thing.

#1 Too many people for that ship. It was sooo crowded!!! Seriously packed like Sardines. I didnt walk and mingle because I couldnt.

#2 The dance floor was on the other side of the ship than the dinner tables. There was a stairwell seperating the two and you definately could NOT see anything from the tables. If you went to the dance floor again it was way too crowded!

Besides that it was great, so make sure you check out how many will comfortably fit and make sure the dance floor is not seperate from the tables

Yes I know, our first thing was to make sure that everyone would be comfortbale aboard the ship!
The yacht we are looking at holds 200...and we are projecting to invite 150 guests. And they say that 20% respond that they will be unable to attend, so I think we will be ok with that....or at least I hope so!!! LOL

Re: Did anyone do a yacht cruise for reception??

My brother did one years ago out of babylon and everyone still talks about it. It was really nice. No one got sick and only one couple missed the boat. They were running late and then they got stuck in traffic. The only problem was no place to hide from all the relatives that you didnt want to see!!!!

My friend did a Yacht cruise and it was beautiful. I don't remember anyone having any problems. Also, my Senior Prom was on a boat and it was LOADS of fun.
