Re: Lombardi's on the sound

I think that both places are very nice but I just love Lombardi's on the Sound for it's simple elegance. The food is the same at both places--amazing. And with Lombardi's on the Sound you get the amazing view that you don't get with Villa. If the size of your wedding can fit at Lombardi's on the Sound (mine can't! which I'm so bummed about) then definitely do it!! My sister is getting married there this August and I went to the tasting and everything was just magical! Good Luck!

You might be the only bride but when I went to a wedding there a few months ago, there was another party going on upstairs and when the Best Man gave his speech, all you could hear was the base music from the other party.

well I shouldn't be too worried with my fiance's italian family!! Knowing them.. they'd have no quoms about going up there and shutting down their music till speeches were over

Re: Lombardi's on the sound

Well, I am biased since I am having my wedding at Villa Lombardi's.
Lombardi's on the sound has beautiful views. But I just didn't like trying to find the location.

I LOVE Villa's to me it is just GORGEOUS!!!!
It was more my taste that Lombardi's on the sound.

Oh and with the 2 wedding thing at Villas.
When I was first looking for a hall I wanted to be the only bride, that is until I walked into Villas.
But, my friend got married at Villas in the summer and I didn't even know there was another wedding going on at ALL!!!!!!

Well, Good Luck!!!!!

Re: Lombardi's on the sound

The thing that I didn't like about Lombardi's on the Sound was that their bathrooms reminded me of a locker room. Not very elegant looking, also they are down stairs...Think about your ladies walking down two flights to go to the bathroom.
Also the restaurant will be open as well as another party going on. For all that $$$ to share the place with other people made my decision for me.

Re: Lombardi's on the sound

The people in the restaurant are closed off from the hall. They have a separante entrance and the connecting door is locked so no one can share the bathrooms with your guests. There is also an elevator to go down to the bathroom if your guests really don't want to walk, but it really isn't a big deal anyway. I think the bathrooms are classy.

ETA
The upstairs party room is generally used for business events or small informal parties - if you are having an evening wedding, there most likely won't be another party going on, and even if there is, it's totally separate.

Re: Lombardi's on the sound

Not that I am having my wedding there... I did sign the contract but now my funding may be withdrawn (mom not willing to pay), they told me there was no tasting because you could go to the restaurant and order the food. Is that not true?
I am having a sunday afternoon (or was) so it was not THAT much money, i loved the minimal guarantee, although my guest has doubled in size thanks to my mom's social life. I am annoyed that the nice person i signed the contract with (Maria) is no longer working there and i did not like Lorraine. I hear the food is ridiculously good and I like that it is very open. I will post names of those that I know have had or are having their wedding there, stay tuned....

Re: Lombardi's on the sound

I looked there- it was the same price as Flowerfield

but the room was half the size- they tried to tell me 200 plus people would fit in there

and there would be another party- not a wedding but a x-mas party going on

the bathroom was shared

the food is good- we eat at the resturant all the time

but I just think if you are going to spend that much per person- you should look at Flowerfield

JMO!

Re: Lombardi's on the sound

I really have to post my review. sorry. I got married there in August. I had 190 people there and that's about all that main room could fit.

One thing that ROYALLY PSST me off was not be able to see the room prior to my wedding. I was out of state so it made things difficult.

As far as a tasting, in 05 they had tastings a few times a year, where you could taste different items. it was great. I think they charged $10 a person, but it was worth it.

The view is amazing. How much is it now for sat and sunday?

The food is also incredible. Best cocktail hour ever.

The service to your guests on the wedding was incredible.

However, the service i received prior was less than desirable. It's really a shame because that was the one aspect that was disappointing. The banquet sales manager I was dealing made the process extremely difficult. It took 3 times before any of them got it right, and then it was 'great' because each time I went back for my appt there was another new person I needed to speak too and I had to start from scratch. AGAIN!

My maitr'd the day of was pretty bad. She kept on reassuring me that everything would be great and she was here for me, yet everytime I asked for something she forgot about it. whatever...

Overall my guests were extremely happy. It just seems like they really excel at service regarding servicing your guests, but need to work on the service they provide to the brides.

I still think it was great, some things to keep in mind, but if I had to do it again, I would still have it there.

Good luck!

Re: Lombardi's on the sound

I booked my wedding there for 5/07. It was more my style since it is in Port Jeff...which I just think is the cutest town. I like that it is out of the way and not on a main road. I was at a wedding at Villa Lombardi's and the food was AMAZING and I hear that it is the same at Lombardi's on the Sound.
And of course, the view is amazing!

We are having a Saturday day time wedding and it was like 110 pp. It is way more at night...like 135 pp or something like that.

The one thing that has annoyed me so far is that they promised us a half hour later start and now they called to say they can't do that. Now I am nervous about the next year and a half with them!

I am still excited about it and glad I chose it.
