Invite question for those who invited people from NYC
So I know etiquette (sp?) says not to abbreviate most things - and it specifically says to spell out numbered streets - but are people actually doing that? It seems like spelling out 145th Street is alot of space, not to mention that numbered streets are a kind of a staple of the city. Any thoughts on this? TIA!

Re: Invite question for those who invited people from NYC
It is okay to put 145 b/c that how they write it in the city, you do not want things to get lost due to any confusion, I always write the number when inviting city friends...145 west 14st apartment 14

Re: Invite question for those who invited people from NYC
I know 'proper etiquette' dictates that all numbers should be written out except for the zip code, but let's face it, it's a load of crap.I entered mine as they are. If my parents live on E. 32nd St, I simply put the invite address as 'East 32nd Street' as opposed to 'East Thirty Second Street'

I agree with Janna on the load of crap. Etiquette also says spell out the state (as in New York, rather than NY), but the US Postal Service doesn't want to see it that way - it actually delays the mail.

My calligrapher wrote out the street up to 20th Street. All the invites arrived without incident, but I wouldn't write out anything over 'Twentieth.'
