Re: The List

I would tackle 'em in clusters. Go to the ones in the same areas and try not to hit more than 3 in one day or they will all start to look alike. It takes about 1 hour for each place and take into account the driving time too.

I've been to Chateau La Mer and didnt care much for the food there - maybe I'm a food snob? Hehe, I 've booked the Westbury Manor.

And call 'em up and ask 'em for minimum guarantees and cost and see if they have your dates available. That way you'l weed out some you may not even have to visit! :)

Good luck!

Ok, so the first weekend in February we are looking at halls. I have a long list, so can anyone give me some suggestions to what halls I should see first?

Westbury Manor
The Riviera
Bridgeview Yacht Club
Chateau La Mer
Venetian Yacht Club
Timber Point Country Club
Lido Golf Club
Lombardis on the Sound
Crescent Beach Club
Windows on the Lake
Larkfield Manor
Woodbury Country Club
Leonard's
Fox Hollow
Land's End
Flowerfield

Also..Does anyone know if Lands End or Flowerfield is flexible with their minimums? We just expanded our guest list to open our options, and they are still out of my range. TIA!

You could do Fox Hollow, Westbury Manor, Woodbury Country Club one day; do the Riviera, Chateau La Mer, the Venetian another. Group them by area but don't do more than 3/4 in a day!

The list is up to 125 but I'd prefer around 100. And the day is flexible.

If your list is at 125, figure only 90-100 or so will show

That is what we did...all the ones in the same area about...like all of the ones on Jericho on one day...then the N Shore....South Shore etc...and give yourself time to mul it over and think about it...discuss what you loved and didn't love...there were a few places we walked out of and we just turned to each other and said 'NO WAY' not that they were bad but just not for us!

Re: The List

I'm biased and would recommend you definitely check out the Crescent. I think they usually have a higher minimum though than 100 or 125.

Re: The List

Definitely don't do too many in a day! I did 4 and felt pretty dizzy.

It's good to group them by location as mentioned before as well.

Also, I'd start with the ones that you like the best on paper (and the ones nearby as well). You might be able to make a decision without exhausting the entire list.

Re: The List

I agree with the others on tackling those in the same area at a a time. That's how we broke down the places we went to see, and it worked out great for us.

Re: The List

I would say maybe you would want to group them into areas. Did you make sure that they all have the accommodations to fit your wedding?

Re: The List

You have a real wide range of spaces/ prices here.
Do they all meet all of your requirements, minimums, etc? I would say, eliminate as many as possible from phone calls and website searching.
Then maybe figure out if any 1 thing is important.
Do you want to be the only bride? Or are 2+ weddings at a time OK with you?
I know that I narrowed down my list easily- I needed high ceilings. Weird, I know, but it's what mattered. then I narrowed down by places that were out of my $$ range.

If you already did this, then ignore me.
I would definitley group them by area, and not do more than 3-4 a day.
