NWR Today's oprah
Anyone else get totally freaked out by Oprah's show on the bird flu. I was watching the 7:00 rerun on channel 55 and got very scared from watching. Am I alone here?

Re: NWR Today's oprah
I gave up on being scared about everything. (The bird flu, Terroism, Nuclear attacks). I feel if it happens it happens. There is little we can do. This is why I don't watch the news often. I am sick of hearing about all the bad stuff going on in the world.

I agree. i think so much of it is scare tactics. Fear brings the ratings up. I mean look at the news...there's always something like 'What you don't know about paperclips may kill you!'

Yes I totally agree that a lot of our media is built around our fear I guess I just have more faith in Oprah. I would hope she wouldnt sacre the crap out of us just for ratings.

Re: NWR Today's oprah
I love Oprah, but she shouldn't have a show about the bird flu. All it is doing is scaring everyone. Plus, they are not 100% on what it is really going to do. My FH who is a science teacher said it is very hard for a virus like this to mutate to the flu that would kill millions. He said the bird flu is doing very well as it is. The virus would have to be doing bad to mutate. If you understand any of what I wrote. My FH explains it much better.

Re: NWR Today's oprah
Alli's right. If a virus is really virulent, so much so that it kills people or keeps them too sick to leave the house, ahving it be airborne or very easily reansmitted wouldnlt work, because everyone who has it is home sick. By definition, the most contagious viruses, and the oens you can just catch walking down the street are the least virulent ones, because if they were relaly os devastating the person who has it wouldnlt be on the street, they'd be home or in the hospital

Re: NWR Today's oprah
I watched both yesterday and today's shows and I must say that I became awakened. Sure, I get scared to death listening to everything and very annoyed at how the news portrays it all... BUT...IF we're in for something BIG to happen, I'm sure glad that my eyes were opened and that I became a little bit more educated and aware of the situation.
I think that half the battle is lack of education in our society about what's REALLY going on. I'm not talking about what the media puts out there, cuz we ALL know how that goes.
Seriously, don't you think we should be asking ourselves just what the government ISN'T telling us?
Just my opinion

Re: NWR Today's oprah
I didn't see the show, but because I work in hospitals I know we have already put plans in place in case anything big happens. It's scary to know that when the S*** hits the fan I am going to be there welcoming all the sick people in

I didn't see it and good thing FH didn't see it. He's in the security field and he's always telling me about all the horrible stuff that could happen. Brings me down man!
