Can anyone that has stayed there before tell me if it's worth the $$. We are booked there for our wedding night and I'm wondering if it's worth it...TIA!

Re: Garden City Hotel

We loved staying there on our wedding night. Although we didn't pay (my parents got that for us as a gift), I think it was worth it.

Re: Garden City Hotel

We stayed there for a friends wedding - no suite or anything just a regular room...

IMO
its not worth it...the room needed some major updating in decor...it looks like the last time they redecorated was in the 80's...and the bathroom looked like any bathroom you'd find in a Holiday Inn (not that there is anything wrong with the bathrooms - I've stayed at plenty Holiday Inns) I just think for what they charged we could HAVE stayed at the Holiday Inn for LESS and it would have been the same...JMO

I totally agree, it's not what it used to be for the price your paying you would think it would be more than it is.

Re: Garden City Hotel

I stayed there the night if our wedding- I just got a king room- it was very big

I didn't find the decor to be 80's- it's not trendy- it's more classic

it was nice- nothing wow- but it's the nicest hotel closest to our house- so it made sense

Re: Garden City Hotel

I stayed in a regular room once and thought it was very nice. I am also staying there on my wedding night and I am paying $245 for a reglar room. I dont think its worth the $500+ for the wedding night/honeymoon special (whatever they call it) they have.

Re: Garden City Hotel

That's exactly what I was thinking! I love to do the honeymoon package, but it 2x the price and I'm already paying enough I think to stay there.

Re: Garden City Hotel

They used to do the discount. My father booked ours but we paid for it (this was 2 years ago though) - I know we got one as a resident (but we got an additional one for also having rooms blocked or we could not have afforded the room). They did away with the discount sometime since then - I recently found out that they stopped doing it when my step grandfather tried to book a room for his son and daughter in law for their upcoming visit and they didn't have the discount anymore. It is a shame many people in town made use of it. Depending on where you are getting married you might also get a discount with that place. Try blocking rooms and see if you can get a discount that way.

BTW evnme your 'friend' was not fibbing there really was a discount...LOL

Re: Garden City Hotel

We stayed there our wedding night. We were so exhausted, I dont even recall what the room decor looked like. But I will say that we ordered food at around midnight and it was simply superb!! I did enjoy the plush robes. Overall, it was a great stay. We left early morning for our flight but we felt comfortable while there.

Also, we didnt pay for our room. It was a package gift from Queens Bridal Centere when we booked our photographers.
