October Brides Past/Present Honeymoon help
We cannot figure out a place to go. All we want to do is sit on a beach and poolside and have someone bring us endless drinks. We wanted to go away for two weeks. FH is completly unthrilled about hawaii, especially since its like 13K all in and the flight is far and someone told him when you land you see a walmart..... I wish I could go to the Carribean but its chance I cant take, right? We NEVER thought about how the difficulty in finding a place when we chose October. I mean with places like Anguilla, St. Barts, etc now are all out.Advice please? I cried all day yesterday.

Re: October Brides Past/Present Honeymoon help
My parents just got back from Los Cabos in Mexico at an all inlcusive and LOVED the area. They got a great deal also. I would check that area out, no hurricanes to worry about and my mom said it almost reminded her of Hawaii. Good luck!!

Re: October Brides Past/Present Honeymoon help
I'm an October bride as well, and have thought about going on Mediterranean Cruise or even Fiji/Tahiti.I'm staying clear of Mexico since some resorts that have been battered by the hurricanes last year are still recovering. And other resorts that fared better are actually accomodating the guests (including kids!) of the recovering resorts!
Be careful, if you must do a Mexico HM, call and check about that. I know of some resorts that I wanted to HM at are doing this.
Love this place, btw! :)

Re: October Brides Past/Present Honeymoon help
I'm getting married in Oct and am planning to go to the Carribean. I, like your husband, am extremely uninterested in Hawaii. I wanted to go to Fiji or Tahiti, but can't deal with a 16 hour flight. I am a little nervous about it being hurricane season, but that's why there's travel insurance! Also, if you go to an island closer to the equator you should be okay. Good Luck!

We went to Nevis, stayed at the Montpelier Plantation Inn. There is also a Four Seasons on the island.Check out tripadvisor.com for travelers comments.
The weather was fine (although Florida was having a bad time).
Good luck!

Re: October Brides Past/Present Honeymoon help
I had wanted to go to Mexico but was scared because of hurricanes. We decided to go to Disney and it was the best!! We had only a few hours of rain one day even with the hurricane.

Re: October Brides Past/Present Honeymoon help
I suggest a cruise, we are doing souther caribbean in oct, less effected by hurricanes, and if something does come up they just detour you and bring you to another island, no big deal you'll have a GREAT time!

Re: October Brides Past/Present Honeymoon help
We went to St.John & St. Thomas for our honeymoon.
We knew we were taking a risk with the hurricane season
but that's why we took out insurance.
DH and I absolutely loved St.John. They haven't been
hit with a hurricane I think a local told us in over 20 yrs.
Some other suggestions would be Aruba and I think St.Lucia
is also pretty safe. Good luck.

Re: October Brides Past/Present Honeymoon help
My advice is if your going somewhere that has the potential of a hurricane take out insurance. You never know where it's going to hit. I have lived in FL for 16yrs and these last few years have been sucko. It may be nice in one area, but if your in the area being affected it's no joke.

We went to St. Lucia and it was beautiful. Since it is pretty far south, we had 0 weather problems. We loved it and can't wait to go back.

Re: October Brides Past/Present Honeymoon help
We went to Acapulco for a week and then Puerto Vallarta for a week. You can do it fairly cheaply and there is plenty to fo if you want, or you can spend most of your time relaxing- like we did.

Re: October Brides Past/Present Honeymoon help
I can't believe someone has negative thoughts about Hawaii! you are missing out, we went there on Nov. 4 for 2 weeks. we did not have one minute of rain and it was 82 degrees and perfectly sunny for 2 straight weeks, you can't beat that. the flight is long but it's worth it . also, if you dont' go to Oahu, you won't be surrounded by Walmart's, etc.

Re: October Brides Past/Present Honeymoon help
Aruba!!!!!We went for our HM and loved it so much we bought a timeshare!! The weather was beautiful (5 minutes of rain a few days and then cleared up quickly), out of the hurricane belt, beautiful beaches, great food and nightlife and great hotels.
Either there or a mediterranean cruise, but if you want the beach, go to Aruba. Went to Los Cabos in November, didn't love it as much.
