Girls who went to HAwaii, did u really need a car?
I am getting a car with the whole package, but do we really need it? I want to drink at dinner and go out at night and we don't want to drive, so we could get a taxi right? Other question for the excursions doesn't someone pick you up and drive you there? Or do we have to drive there?

we spend a week on Big Island and we def. used the car to the fullest!!!! I think we only spent 2 days in the hotel, the other days we were travelling around the island... def. take the car if you want to be independent

You most definitely need a car! Depending on where you are staying, most stuff that you are going to do is not close to the hotel. You are better off to save the drinking nights for the nights you eat dinner at your hotel. Also - hawaii doesn't have the best nightlife, so you wont' be out late. Also - for any activities, you have to get yourself there. The only time DH and I were picked up was in Maui when we did Mt. Haleakala, but other than that we had to take ourselves everywhere.

yes, you need a car. If you want someone to drive you to Hanna, Maui it is really expensive. And for us, the drive was part of the adventure. Also, there was not really a night life on kauai or on maui. If you are looking for a nightlife, I am not sure Hawaii is the honeymoon of your dreams. It is more of an outdoorsey/nature type of place with relaxing by the pool/beach atmosphere. And the food is also $$$.

We had a car on Maui & Kuai & DEF needed them. You didn't need one on Oahu if you were sticking to the Waikiki area. If you want to go to Pearl Harbor or other parts of the island you may want to either rent a car (even if it's for a few days) or look into bus tours.

i stayed mostly in oahu so we didn't really need a car. also.. luckily, i had a few friends who happen to live in waikiki so they were able to take me to and fro. if you're staying in oahu then i don't think there's a need to have a ride. there are buses conveniently located by every hotel at your disposal.Welcome New Vendors
