Pregnant Bridesmaid - Dress Dilemma - Pix please!

One of my bridesmaids is hoping to get pregnant in April, so she'll be about 5 months pregnant in September for my wedding. This will be her second pregnancy, and for her first, she barely looked pregnant - even at her baby shower! Who knows how she'll pop this time around.

I'm not concerned about the fact that she'll be pregnant, but I am concerned about the BM dress choice I've made. I've decided on Bill Levkoff, Euro Satin, tea length...and letting each girl pick the dress they like in Euro Navy.

The to-be-prego BM seemed to think something with a sheer overlay would be flattering - but that would look too different from the satin that I like, and there aren't enough options in that style for each girl to have something different - which I really want.

Is it bad to put a prego BM in a satin dress? I think any empire waist a-line will work well...is that right?

I want her to be comfortable, that's why I'm letting each girl pick a diff dress - but I also want some uniformity so it doesn't look silly.

If you have any pix of prego BM - slight pop - I'd appreciate.

Any suggestions?

Re: Pregnant Bridesmaid - Dress Dilemma - Pix please!

First of all, you said she's hoping to get preggo - that doesn't mean she will - so she'll be no more than 5 months, but possibly less. I had a pregnant BM who was 6 months at my wedding and my girls wore corset tops (also Bill Levkoff)! Any empire waist dress will work just fine. She might want to say something to the seamstress or whoever at the time she buys the dress and see what they say...they might suggest she order a larger size or something..

Re: Pregnant Bridesmaid - Dress Dilemma - Pix please!

i thin the dress a satin empire would look wonderful. i had 2 preg bms.....1 due 2 days b4 the wedding (she's FH's sister but she dropped out ) and the other is my SIL and she will be 71/2. she got another dress b/c we already ordered ours and it was going to cost her double the dress cost to get the materical to get it altered...but she deff would have went for a satin empire if it had worked out differently

Re: Pregnant Bridesmaid - Dress Dilemma - Pix please!

I've seen pregnant bridesmaids before in satin tea length dresses and they look really cute. I don't have any pics though.

Empire waist is a good choice, very flattering. Like everyone said too, the most she'll be is 5 mos pregnant so it should work out fine. Most bridal salons are used to these types of situations so they should be able to recommend how she should order the dress and everything.

It's funny, my FMIL told me this story, her best friend couldn't be her MOH or in the wedding party because she was pregnant at the time of their wedding. She wasn't about to give birth or anything, she was maybe 6 or 7 mos pregnant and they couldn't get a dress. I've been to weddings where I've seen girls in bridal parties on their due date or a couple of days before their due date!

Re: Pregnant Bridesmaid - Dress Dilemma - Pix please!

I agree, very big difference between hoping and being pregnant
Stick with the satin and she can order a few sizes bigger if she thinks she will be prego.

My friend was pregnant with twins and wore a satin dress when she was 7mth pregant. She looked beautiful, she had to add panels on the side. When she ordered the dress she knew she was prego but did not know it was twins! So I do not think the fabric matters.

One of my bridesmaids was 5 months pregnant at our wedding and she wore the same satin, strapless, A-Line gown as the rest of the bridesmaids...She looked gorgeous and with the A-Line dress, it fit her comfortably and you could barely tell she was pregnant!

One of my BMs will be 9 months pregnant at my wedding.. They already ordered their dresses before we knew that she was prego. Levkoff satin, 2 piece, empire waist. I pray everything will be OK....

Re: Pregnant Bridesmaid - Dress Dilemma - Pix please!

MY Sister-In-Law is hoping to become pregnant in March or so, so she purposely ordered a larger sized dress. (I attached a picture of my BM's dress... it's pretty. Tea length, but we're not using the train. It's MUCH prettier without the train). The woman at the Lake Grove Macy's said that this dress is flattering on EVERYONE, and my sister-in-law who is planning on becoming pregnant LOVED the dress (along with all my other BM'S).

Re: Pregnant Bridesmaid - Dress Dilemma - Pix please!

My sisters trying to get pregnant. If it happens this month she'll be either 8 or 9 months pregnant at my wedding. As long as she's comfortable in the dress is all that matters. She'll probably order a larger sized dress.
