Duet Brides- Soho Album Question: Update: Now with the Layout posted!

SO I finally get my layout and I love the first 10 pages but then the reception is crammed into two pages- One big picture of first dance and one big picture of cake cutting and all the others scattered on each page- father daughter dance, mother son dance, DH dance with my grandma, - it looks horrible- like they just threw them on the page. The whole album is only 15 pages. Is this the usual length of the album????

Ok, so I talked to Duet and I can add pages for $25 a page. I would need at least 6 more pages looking at this layout. I think it should have had at least 20 to start with.

I just got my album layout this week. It is 30 pages and I am getting the SOHO album I think....that is the one where the pictures are flush on the page right?

If you aren't happy you should make changes and tell them. You get to make 2 changes. On mine, they spelled 'July' and 'together' wrong so I see what you mean when you say it looks rushed. I am going through mine page by page and letting them know the changes.

i don't have an answer, but I would definitely complain! I know you will, but i wanted to reiterate it.

Since Duet has gotten huge, there are just too many complaints about rushed work with less of a quality than they have been known for... that may be unfair, i don't know - i just hate to hear you say this, especially after all the heartbreak you had over your proofs...!

your album WILL rock in the end.

ps - can you post any of the layout?

I posted my answer on 05 board but I will post again... do you think you can subtract some pictures? I dont think there is a way to do it unless you add couple of pages to the album...

Christine, I think you have a great start, but I can see why you feel you rush through the reception. All of your pictures are beautiful but if you feel you want to add pages then go for it. Also, I remember you had some issues with your photographer, perhaps this is a way the can make it up to you. They do owe you some sort of compensation. Perhaps its time to bring that up.

In any case what you have is beautiful, I can see why you would like a little more good stuff!

Yes..your layout is semi-smuched together...
but the reason this is cause of the pictures.
For SOHO books, pictures have to be similar on the pages else the flow of the book doesn't work.
I think if you had different pictures selected at certain points...prehpas detail shots of something...it would work better and have more pages

i can totally see what you are talking about. I think even adding 2-4 more pages would help alleviate the congestion at the end.

The layout for the first pages is GORGEOUS! So the good news is that in the end the album will turn out beautifully. Just stinks that you have to wait even longer now!

It does look like they crammed as much as they could into the amount of pages, I would definitely pay to add pages, I think it's well worth it.

My SOHO album is 30 pages... but actually I think it is the same as yours. Where you have 1 page, that was labelled as two pages on my layout.. i guess it makes more sense the ways yours is labelled, because the 2 pages flow into eachother are are really like 1 large page.
So basically what I am trying to say is you DO have the standard album size.
I still think you should add a few extra pages.. the first half looks great but the second half looks crammed to me.

Thank you everyone for all of your help! You guys are the best! I am definately adding pages- its not worth worrying about in terms of money- I really want my album to look good. So thanks for all the input- I am adding two pages at the end and a couple in the middle where it is the most congested. I also have a lot of ideas to make the end look just as beautiful as the beginning. I will work on it in photoshop and post here for your help. Thanks again.

my suggestion would be to add a few more pages.

I'd make the cake cutting photos be on one page (or half of a page, from what's posted).

I'd also do the parent dances by themselves, yours and his side by side.

Then, I'd do a couple more reception pages and close with the last page that you already have posted.
