anyone getting married at a vineyard in 2006

SO I am getting married at Raphael this July and I was just wondering if anyone else is getting married at a vineyard this year and dealing with this whole business where they dropped the bomb that vineyards are no longer allowed to serve beer or liquor at weddings. I am really ticked off b/c my contract was signed and everything, and now they are telling me this. I am still waiting to find out the final word. Anyone hear anything?????

Re: anyone getting married at a vineyard in 2006

From what I've heard, the law does not apply if you use an outside caterer with a pouring license. I think it's only a problem for Raphael because their catering is done in-house.

I have no idea if this would help, but maybe you can hire an outside caterer for just bar service? It's possible Raphael wouldn't be happy with it, but if that would let you skirt around the law, it's the least they could do. If not, I would ask them to throw something in. I mean, I guess it's not their fault, unless they knew there was a possibility of this law when you signed your contract, and didn't tell you.

My friend is going through this now...
Apparently, the whole process of fixing this is in the works.

Have they mentioned if they are fixing this or the date by which things should be settled?

Best of luck

I also wanted to married at Raphael's. However, as of now its wine only. Julie said by March they should have an answer. Someone, I know its doing Martha Clara this October; as long as the caterer has an off premises license to serve it,and you also have the choice of purchasing your own alcohol. I hope tha helps. Best of Luck.
