Something is EFFED up w/ my ring

So a prong was a wee bit loose so I brought the ring to a trusted person in my town. (not the person who FI bought the ring from)

Now there is this purplish dirt looking substance at the corner of my ring, So I get it cleaned again and it IS STILL THERE.

It never was there b4.

So I broingit to another guy who says it is inclusions. I whip out the GIA thingy and there are no spots in that particular area.

I doubt that the ring could be switched b/c

I AM SO SAD AND FURIOUS... And I can't get in touch with FI.

soak it in some windex over night. maybe its just some gunk that they use to keep the diamond set that landed there. sorry!! i hope this works for you

If you can't get the spot off I would bring the ring back with the paperwork and show them how there was never a mark there before. If it is still the orginal stone they should be able to remove the spot.

Wow. I hope you're able to resolve it. I just want to add that it's very easy to chip a diamond...really a lot easier than we think. So it's possible (and hopefully it's not the case) that he tightened the prong too tight and chipped the stone causing cloudiness...or it could be an inclusion and you never noticed it. Does the ring have any inclusions? Unless it's IF in clarity, then yes, it should have inclusions. It's possible that you're aware now because the ring is clean. It could also be dirt...so I agree with the other poster...soak it and clean it. 2 parts warm water and 1 part windex or ammonia for about 20 minutes and scrub gently with a soft toothbrush.

Regarding a possible stone switch...I doubt that this was the case as you said it was about a minute. But in the future, NEVER leave your ring unnatended. Any jeweler should be able to fix your ring in front of you.

HONEY, I WOULD BRING THE ROCK TO THE GUY YOUR FH GOT THE RING FROM, MAKE HIM LOOK AT IT AND MAKE SURE IT IS YOURS. TRUTHFULLY, A JEWLER CAN SWITCH IT VERY FAST IF HE IS USED TO WHAT HE IS DOING AND KNOWS WHAT HE IS DOING .. GOOD LUCK YOU WILL DEFINETLY BE ABLE TO TELL IF THAT IS THE NORMAL IMPERFECTIONS IN THE RING FROM THE GIA

I am sorry.. that stinks.. maybe something got caught in the prong when they tighted it.. take it back to the place.. and ask them to fix it
