What are the guests going to do?

There is a huge gap between my ceremony and reception - 4 hours to be exact!!!! Should I make suggestions to guests or let them figure it out?? What about out of towners???

Re: What are the guests going to do?

Are they all staying at the same hotel? Maybe set up a hospitality area for them.

Re: What are the guests going to do?

I am having a similar problem. Well I actually don't think its a big problem but my MIL does. Well here it goes. I live in Babylon and my fiance is from Brooklny and a lot of his family is coming from Staten Island. The church is at 3 in Babylon. The ceremony is at 6 in Westbury. By the time the ceremony is over and all of that and driving is considered I'm guessing there will only be about an hour to an hour and a half break. Its nota terrible amount fo time. My MIL is very upset that the hall cant provide a hospitality time or anything inbetween. There reasoning is that there is no time btween the clean for the morning parties and ours. I'm not terribly concerned b/c I've been to many weddings in his family and nothing was providing for time lapse. This is not a major issue right now.....but ima postive it will be once it gets closer.......

Re: What are the guests going to do?

My FMIL will be hosting our OOT guests at her home until the CH. Ours is 4 hours inbetween as well. But it flies by when you have pics to take etc. Plus travel time as well. I'm sure we'll be fine.

Re: What are the guests going to do?

I think my mom will be hosting most of the guests from the Church at our house until it's time to leave for the hall. Our Church is at 2 and the cocktail starts at 6 so there's about a 3 hour gap after the Ceremony is over

Re: What are the guests going to do?

i dont know if anyones reception is at jericho terrace, but they are in the process of remodeling a gorgeous lounge. they said my guests can go there after the church for a while before the cocktail hour. they have a bar and some pick food and stuff. because i was worried people from far away wouldnt come to the church because of having no where to go inbetween. this way they can go straight to the hall.

Re: What are the guests going to do?

We will probably have little snacks and drinks at my house in between for guests to stay. We have a couple of hours in between as well.

Re: What are the guests going to do?

The Hotel is next to the Hall. I was thinking that the Out of Town guests can hang out there. The church is at 4 and the Reception is at 7. I figured by the time they get back to the hotel it will be about 1-2 hours that they have to wait. Some will come to the hall for family pictures.

Re: What are the guests going to do?

my mom said she could have oot-ers come to her house and have a neighbor host it... it might work - i just dont want to be involved in planning that - is that completely selfish?!

Re: What are the guests going to do?

Maybe if you have a neutral family member who's not part of the wedding take charge of that. Like have coffee, and tea at their house.(something simple) We don't have that big of a gap, but our hall is allowing their lounge to be open to our guest until the reception starts, and after it's over

Re: What are the guests going to do?

We are having buses take our guests that want/need a ride from the church to the hall. The buses are departing from our local Knights of Columbus so we're going to have everyone hang out there for the time in between. They can have drinks and relax there.

Our church starts at 2:30 and will end around 3:30/4:00 since we are having a full mass and our cocktail hour starts at 6:30. FT said that our guests can go earlier and they will be greeted w/drinks and food but I really don't want them there earlier then 6:00 since I'll be there taking pics.

my hall said a lot of people with big gaps have the guests go to their parents house...maybe give that responisibility to your MOH or mom to help you out with if you dont have the time to figure out the details

Re: What are the guests going to do?

I am having my church at 3 and my reception at 7, i have no plans for my guests. We don't have a lot of OOT that I have to worry about, so i am hoping people will find things to do..My wedding is going to be on a friday so I am sure people that have to work may not come until later anyway

Re: What are the guests going to do?

duh im so silly sometimes i forgot to mention: my ceremony is at 330, my hall is literally 5 minutes away so the hall offered a hospitality/cordial hour, so guests can come staright from the ceremony and have some drinks and i think snacks...so my CH will probably be at like 630(my BM sais if i have the cordial hour which i am they usually open to CH a bit early if a lot of people have been there) so see if you could do something like that also...
