Making Friends Post-Wedding
Very happily newlywed
with one problem ... I'm finding it harder to meet new people and make friends recently. I just moved to a new town in Suffolk and it's mostly families ... without kids I'm outta the circle here. I've finished school and my job has very few social outlets. Anyone else feel the same? How are you coping?

Re: Making Friends Post-Wedding
i feel you! we moved to North Carolina and know nobody. We both have made New Years Resolutions to get more involved and put ourselves out there to meet people.I have begun volunteering and have met a few great people (no 'friends' yet, but being social helps.) And DH has started taking a Continuing Ed. class in writing and is loving the people he sees once per week. Some friendships are blossoming.
I would consider getting involved somehow... putting yourself out there is the only way to make friends outside of work/school!

Re: Making Friends Post-Wedding
I haven't made any 'new' friends in a while, but I am lucky because I have stayed close to many of my friends from highschool and college, and still hang out with them regulary. When we moved to our house, we made friends with some neighbors. We are still only 15 minutes away from our old town and old friends so it is not bad. We are also friendly with some coworkers. Most of the 'new' people I meet are friends of a friend. It is a tough age to make friends. I think once we have kids, meeting other moms might be easier... i hope.
I also made some friends from this website while planning my wedding.
What towns are you girls in? I live in Centereach.

Re: Making Friends Post-Wedding
I guess DH and I have been lucky
We moved to NC back in August and my DH met a guy in our building and we became really close - he in turn introduced us to some of his friends. DH and him go play disc golf and mountain bike on the weekends and we go to dinner a lot. He even spent Christmas with us.I am very friendly with the people at work but have only spent time outside of work with one girl, only because of other things going on.
