WHEN ARE YOU SENDING OUT YOUR SAVE THE DATES

When is the best time. I am getting mixed reviews from friends a family.......Some people say a year before and some say even as late as 3-4 months before.

I think 3-4 months before is too late. that's right before inviotes, so what's the point. it's generally 6mos-a year, and it's longer if it's a holiday weekend. We're hoping to send ours out in the next few weeks. We ahve 10 months. Since out wedding is near christmas we want to give people enough time to get off from work and get flights and book rooms, etc.

Since we have a 27 month engagement, I sent mine out 2 years in advance (In March of '05) Our enagement party was this past June and I wanted them to go out before our engagament invites.

My wedding is in January and I am planning on sending them out next month, I already have family asking for info, better to get them out to hopefully stop the questions. :)

I just sent mine to relatives overseas in Brazil.
Will send the 1st wave- April 1st (friends & family)
2nd wave- June 1st (our co workers)
3rd wave- Aug. 1st (last minute invites)
I think there's some kind of method to my madness..lololol

I never thought of doing it like that - it's a great idea! i was always afraid to send them all out and then what if i don't want to invite someone anymore...then i'm stuck. so i think i'm gonna follow your method and do:
1st wave - family and bridal party
2nd wave - close friends
3rd wave - co-workers

We are getting married Memorial Day Weekend so we are sending ours out a little on the early side. We're planning to send them out next month.

We're sending ours out in Jan. 2007 - figure everyone will have their 2007 calendars then and can just mark it down. It will be 10 mths before our wedding date.

It all depends on when and were you are getting married. If you are getting married out of town or during a holiday weekend you might want to give people about 1 year notice otherwise i think 6-8 months is good.

We are getting married out of state so we sent them out already.
